The All-New, All-Different (All-Girl) X-Women

Grey-Frost University

Westchester, New York

Kitty Pryde walked across the Grey-Frost University campus, having finished her first day of classes at the institute. There had been quite a few schools that had courted her, but since her discovery of her mutant abilities, she knew she wanted to go to GFU. headmistresses Emma Frost and Jean Grey had founded the University years ago with the goal of aiding mutantkind and promoting their peaceful co-existence with humanity. The team they had founded, the X-Women, had also become champions (of sorts) of mutantkind; though there were some who still distrusted mutants ane even hated them, there were also many who saw the X-Women as examples of the best of mutantkind had to offer. Kitty had always looked up to the X-Women, and the opportunity of working alongside them was too good to pass up.

As Kitty walked into her dorm room, she was greeted by her roommate; the woman had auburn hair with a white streak running through it.

"Y'all must be muh new roommate," the woman said in a southern twang, standing up and extending her hand in introduction. "Ah was wonderin' when you were gonna show up."

Kitty shook the woman's hand, smiling amiably. "That's right, my name's Kitty."

"Nice ta meetcha, Kitty. Muh name's Anna Marie. Ah also go by the codename Rogue."

"Codename? Are you an X-Woman?"

"Yup," Rogue smiled. "Ah officially joined the team a few months ago. Ah've heard a bit about ya from Miss Grey & Miss Frost -- they sound like they like y'all lots."

"Really? What are the headmistresses like?"

"They're the best. They've done so much for me..." Rogue had always been incredibly grateful to Jean & Emma -- with their help, she was able to master her powers, which had made skin-to-skin contact so dangerous. She remembered her life prior to the X-Women, always terrified she'd end up hurting someone if she got too close to them. With the X-Women, she'd not only learned how to control her absorption powers, but now, she had friends, a home and sense of belonging she hadn't had before.

As much as she didn't want to admit it, though, something felt... off. Not so much with the institute or the X-Women, but with reality. It was difficult to explain, and maybe it was just her, but something just felt different.

Kitty chatted with Rogue for a few minutes before noticing the time -- she'd had a meeting scheduled with the two headmistresses, and she didn't want to be late for it.

"I gotta get going -- I've got a meeting with Miss Frost and Miss Grey," Kitty said, dropping her bookbag on her bed. "Wanna hang out later? We can order pizza or something."

"Sure! See y'all later."

When Kitty arrived in the meeting room, Jean Grey and Emma Frost were involved in a conference call. "I see... thank you, Miss Romanov. We'll definitely look into it," said Jean.

"Do be careful," Natasha warned. "And make sure to send me whatever you can about Reverend Stryker."

"Of course," Jean agreed. "Be sure to watch yourself, too -- Stryker and his cult aren't fond of listening to reason. We'll be in touch."

Kitty wondered what the call was about, but figured it wasn't something she should be asking about -- at least not right now, anyway.

"Miss Grey? Miss Frost?" said Kitty, catching the headmistress' attention.

"Kitty Pryde," said Emma, focusing her attention on her new student. "We must apologize -- that was an urgent business call we had to take."

"It's fine," said Kitty. "It's good to finally meet both of you in person."

"Likewise," Emma answered. "Miss Grey and I are delighted that you've chosen to attend our University." Jean nodded in agreement.

"I'm happy to be here," Kitty told them. "The Grey-Frost University does so much good for mutantkind -- it's an honor to be a part of it."

"We're honored you picked us," said Jean, "We're extremely impressed by your credentials. But to tell you the truth, we wanted to discuss something other than academics with you today..."

"Really? What?" Kitty asked, curiously raising an eyebrow.

"We think you have potential beyond just being a student here," said Jean. "Emma & I both agree you would make an excellent X-Woman."

"And so, we'd like to offer you a position in the X-Women as an initiate," Emma continued. "You'd be working directly with the team, and if all goes well, you'd be a full-fledged X-Woman in six months."

Kitty was shocked by the offer. Her? An X-Woman? Helping mutantkind? Saving the world? Alongside the team she idolized? It all seemed too good to be true. "You want me to join the X-Women?!"

Jean nodded. "We think you'd be invaluable to the team. It wouldn't be easy, but Emma, myself, and the rest of the team would be there to mentor you. Would you be interested?"

"Yes! Thank you so much!" Kitty said enthusiastically.

"Welcome aboard, Kitty," Emma smiled. "I'm sure you'll be a fantastic addition to the X-Women."
