That Afternoon

The day had passed quickly thanks to Emma's sleeping in to nurse her hangover. She hadn't needed to occupy herself nearly as long today. With her morning adventures behind her, Emma went to check on the twins.

She found both sitting in the living room. James was reading over something from his text book, trying to absorb the last of his lessons. Jenny was all but asleep, lying on the couch, crowding her brother, as she mindlessly aimed the remote at the TV.

Emma stood and made small talk with the pair for a few minutes, then James excused himself to go study. Emma took the opportunity to steal his seat and sat next to her cousin. They talked a bit more about nothing of consequence, then Jenny grunted something about feeling like **** and needing a nap.

Emma sat on the sofa and watched Jenny sleepwalk away. Once again she was all alone.

Well that was fun, Emma thought to herself. Good seeing you all, don't mind me, I'm only visiting. See you in another decade, She continued, a bit miffed at both her cousins leaving so soon. Emma watched the television for another minute, steaming just a bit at being left alone again, then she became bored. Once again, Emma went about finding a way to amuse herself.
