Chapter 4 by The Night The Night

Is this robber stupid?

Thankfully yes

"Haha. You know, I like that idea. A bullet proof human shield would be nice." He gestured towards the door. "Go tell the police what we are doing. I'll start moving the hostages down, yeah?" Defender nodded and went back to the entrance. She opened the door and shouted as loud as she could. "The hostages are coming out. I've arranged to take their place." Defender caught Hobbs eye and winked. He nodded and radioed to his men. Defender walked back into the bank just as people started rushing out. Including Calvin who looked at Defender with a smile.

As the last hostage ran out the door, Defender heard a clanking of metal across the tile floor. Looking down she saw a pair of handcuffs. Looking up she noticed the last robber. She could tell there was a smug look behind that mask. "You know what to do Tits." Defender rolled her eyes before squatting down to pick up the handcuffs. She put her wrist behind her back and snapped the them on to her wrist. As she did, the robber came up behind her and took hold of the heroine. She was smaller than she was and he had a strong grip. He felt him give her a little squeeze, surprised at how soft her skin was. "For a bullet proof superbabe, you're pretty soft Tits."

He took hold of her harms and pulled her against his chest. He invaded her personal space and heard him take a deep wiff as he leaded into her hair. "You smell nice too." She felt him run the barrel of his pistol down her body long the fabric of her thong like leotard. Typical. This was common among the crimenals in town. They all hated her but they all wanted her. "Once I get out of here, you and I are going to have some fun Tits." She turned towards him. Her face not even an inch from his. "I don't think so." She stamped her foot down on his foot causing him to help in pain and let go of her arms. She stepped away and delivered a round house kick sending him tumbling to the floor. It didn't knock him out however. "B***!!!" He yelled as he took aim with his pistol and shot. It of course did nothing and he didn't realize it until his clip ran dry and saw all his freshly fired bullets laying at the heroine's feet. Defender couldn't help but smile as she took another step forward and kicked the man again in the head. Sending him stumbling backward and knocking him out as he hit the floor.

With all the robbers dealt with, Defender called for the police to enter the building. Seeing that the superheroine was cuffed, Hobbs ordered one of his female officers to uncuff her. This wasn't the first time she had been found bound and he typically didn't allow his uniformed officers to release her for fear they would take advantage of her situation. As Defender messaged her wrist, she spoke to the police captian. "Not exactly according to plan but hey, it worked." "That was good work Defender." She put her hands on her hips and raised a eyebrow. "Have you ever known me to be sloppy?" "I'm not going to answer that." One of the officers spoke up. "Captain, you might want to take a look at this." The two looked at each other before walking to see what he had found.

WHat he found was a little shocking. The robbers where gone but their cloths and weapons where still there. Hobbs looked at his officer. "Care to explain Officer?" The officer just shrugged. "I can't sir. One minute he was there, the next minute he was gone!" "That's strange."

Defender bent down and picked up the cloths. As she did, she began to ponder. No one would be stupid enough to think that there was a point to taking her hostage. She thought he was at first but what it was a means to stall. But for what purpose if they could just disappear. Suddenly something hit her. Calvin Ray. He had smiled as he passed her when she was exiting the bank. His constant appearances at these robberies couldn't have been a coincidence. "What do you think Defender?" The Heroine stood back up. "Just a thought I'm having. I don't suppose Calvin Ray is still among the hostages is he?" Hobbs turned to his officer. "Go check with the paramedics." The Officer took off and Hobbs turned back to the heroine. "He's been at all the robberies. THink he might have something to do with it?" Defender pursed her lips. "I'm honestly not sure. He could have been feeding the men information. THat would certainly explain the 6th sense they all seemed to have." "Then why would they take him hostage?" "I don't have a good answer for that. Hopefully he can shed some light on the subject."

"CAPTAIN!" The officer yelled as he came back. "Ray is gone. He refused medical care and left without giving a statement to anyone." Hobbs turned back to the heroine. "Should I put out a APB Defender?" Defender shook her head. "I don't think that's a good idea Captain. We don't have any idea if he's really involved or if this is all coincidence. I think it might be best if I investigate on my own." "If you feel that's best Defender. Do me a favor though and don't give me a reason to put the cuffs on you again." Defender gave Hobbs a sweet smile. "Wouldn't dream of Captain." Defender said as she took her leave.

After pushing her way through the crowd of reporters and mounting her Motorcycle, Defender took off back towards the Daily Posts. It wouldn't take her long to find Calvin's home address. She had a contact in the Records office who could give her that information. The question was, how should she approach things. She could just show up and ask him a few questions. Men seemed to be a bit more coperative when she was wearing her costume. Perhaps she could case the place and wait for a chance to search his residence but if she was caught, she could get hit with a breaking and entering charge. She did promise Hobbs she wouldn't break any laws, especially considering he tolerated her work as a vigilante. She could go as Rebecca Edwards too. Coming to interview him about the robbery would be a good cover.

What will Defender do?
