Thanked for your intervention

As you cross the quad, you notice the two middle eastern girls who Valerie Cummins berated standing together, their dark eyes flickering at you, their colourful headscarves and leggings still proudly in place. You smile at them as you pass, turning your steps towards the dining hall, wanting a coffee and a few moments of solitude.

"Mr. Carter, please wait a moment if you please," a young voice with a pretty accent stops you, and you turn to see the two Arab girls stepping towards you.

"Excuse us, Mr. Carter." One of the girls said, her Arabic accent rolling sweetly off her tongue. "I would wish to thank the man who spared us from the rants of our oppressor."

"You mean Valerie?" you smiled. "My pleasure. Her behaviour is not going to be tolerated. I doubt she'll bother you again."

"Thank you, Mr. Carter," the second girl said, not quite looking you in the eye.

"Forgive me," the first girl said. "I am Rayhana Sayegh, while my sister is named Safiyah." You gently shook both of their hands, and Safiyah seemed like she was almost going to faint as she tenderly held yours. "As I said, Mr. Carter, my sister and I wish to praise your boldness. Thank you, again."

"You're welcome," you reply seeing both girls blush, Safiyah slightly more deeply. "Well, if you'll excuse me, girls, I wish to relax a bit. Good afternoon." The girls smile and give little nods of thanks before walking away, Rayhana looking back once at you.
