Tests

"Hey!"

"You're late!" says Mia.

"10 minutes is not late..." Jenny starts to argue.

"1 minute late is being late. This is why people say you are a lazy race, how your society functions is beyond me..."

" Says the fox that mingles with the wolves!"

"Which is why I can see the problem clearly."

"We are sorry, Jenny said you are the only one who can tell us what is wrong, so do you have any ideas?" You try to end their little fight. Jenny gives you the stinky eye, but doesn't say anything anymore.

"Well, you guys don't transform at night, is that correct?"

"Yes"

"Yes"

She gets her nose close to your chest to smell you. "That is weird, you still smell like a wolf." She slaps a talisman on your chest, and a grey light starts emitting from it and then turns to ash. "Definitely a werewolf..."

"Wow, what was that?"

"Acaria's talismans, you can tell what race you are from it. It makes it really hard for people to pretend to be something else," she walks towards her desk and gets a big syringe. "Now, sit down while I get some blood."

"Is that really necessary?" Jenny asks.

"As this is something new, we need to try everything." She takes blood from both of you, and she even does a throat swab.

"Is that all?" you say, slightly annoyed by all the things she does.

"For now. I'll let you know if we find something"

"So what should we do from now on?" asks Jenny.

"Stay here."

"What?" you ask.

"Well, you can't walk around. What if you infect others?"

"What if we infect you?" Jenny asks

"Then we'll quarantine together since it's probably airborne." She takes her samples and papers and walks towards another room.

"It doesn't seem like she cares," you say.

"She probably doesn't."

"So now what?"

" We wait!" Jenny grabs her phone and lies in bed.

"Great!"

After two hours, Mia comes back. "I have good and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?"

"Bad!" you say.

"Good!" Jenny said.

She looks between you two and then bursts out laughing. "I did find something, and it doesn't seem airborne, so that means you can go back to your normal life."

"And the bad news?" you say.

"I need to test your urine and saliva."

"Now?"

"Of course not." Mia gives each of you some test tubes. "First thing in the morning, you spit in the small one and use the other one until it hits the line on both of them."

"So we can go?" you ask.

"Yeah"

"What do we have?" asks Jenny.

"It's hard to explain, but it's something like a cell that attaches to your cells that help you transform, so it basically slows those cells so much that you don't get to transform during the night, and by the time you get close to transforming, the sun is up and they go dormant, and that should repeat every night."

"Then how did he transform on his first day?"

"And how did Jenny get infected? Is it my fault?"

"We need to do more tests to be sure. We did find your blood is infected, and there are traces in your mouth, so maybe when you kissed or maybe when she bit you, I don't know yet, but I will find out soon."

"Have you ever heard of anything like it before?" you ask.

"Nope. Now let's go, or we'll miss the meeting!"
