Test plan

"There might be, but for now please continue your work," you stated. You had an idea, but you weren't entirely sure if it would work. "I need to confer with the Optimizer first."

As the Organizer began converting the next pile of items, you returned to the middle of the room where the Optimizer was now seated, leaning forward. You watched briefly as she scanned a list of data and compared it to results on one of the monitors. She seemed oblivious to your approach, but you detected a degree of concern on her face.

"Is there a problem?" you asked.

When she looked toward you and sat up, you were treated to a wonderful view of her cleavage peaking past her opened lab coat. "The last several iterations of data are very confusing. It's almost like the other nodes just stopped reporting their numbers."

"That's not surprising. Due to the damage that 6T9 suffered, this is one of the last functioning nodes."

"What!? Why wasn't I informed of this sooner? If the other nodes aren't working correctly, then then their process timing values won't be available, and the final optimization calculations won't be accurate. This is not good. Not good at all." She stood up, removed her glasses and began to twirl them slightly.

You put your arm around her to try to reassure her, but she didn't respond to it. Then you said, "I'm working to get the other nodes restored, but first I need to make sure that everything in this area is functioning correctly. That includes both you and the Organizer function," you replied. "You may not realize this, but your base function was originally intended to only be used during development, and it was never tested for long-term normal operation." From her expression, she was shocked to learn this. "Since your optimization work appears to be somehow related to 6T9's sentience, we need to make sure that all aspects of your design will continue to function correctly." That final part was a bit of a stretch, but not really a lie.

"Yes, that would be prudent," she agreed. "Is there some way to test that?"

"Given that your primary optimization function appears to be working correctly, I recommend that we perform a thorough test of some of the secondary and auxiliary functions of your avatar, even parts that you may not normally use. Any anomalies found there might identify risks to your primary function. On the other hand, if those areas appear to be functioning correctly, then it should be safe for you to continue operating indefinitely."
