Begin input testing

"That seems like a valid approach," agreed the Optimizer. She quickly turned to another control screen and began scrolling through various functions. "This lists all the possible functions that avatars may possess. The primary functions are listed here, followed by the secondary and auxiliary functions."

"Excellent," you exclaimed. "Since your primary functions have already been demonstrated to work correctly, we can exclude those from further testing. For the remaining functions, can you also show me the input paths that they utilize?" The Optimizer quickly produced the revised list along with a map showing the input paths, a few of which you immediately recognized as corresponding to the avatar's equivalents of eyes for vision, ears for hearing, and various extremities for tactile response. "These sets of inputs are shared with those used by other primary functions, and their pathways are isolated here. Thus, we can exclude all of these functions as well."

The Optimizer quickly reduced the list even further, leaving just a handful of secondary auxiliary functions, including the ones you were hoping to find. You alternated between pointing to the map and the corresponding the list of functions. "We need to test your nose input to check your olfactory function, your mouth input for its taste function, and these areas for additional testing of the tactile function, and their sexual functions. Since you will both be activated for an indefinite period of time, these functions should be checked on you and the Organizer. Furthermore, some of the testing can be done in parallel."

"I understand," she said and immediately proceeded to retrieve the Organizer from the first storage area. Meanwhile, you consulted with MPAD-24 to determine ways to test smell and taste for the avatars. The robot soon produced a two trays filled with small vials: one set contained various scents, while the other contained various flavors.

Looking up, you saw both avatars had returned. "We will begin by testing your sense of smell. I will open these vials one at a time, and both of you will inhale the contents. I will monitor for any unexpected results from this console."

You opened the first scent vial which contained something that smelled like a sweet citrus fruit, and the two avatars inhaled the contents. As you watched the screen, it showed that the scent function was being activated, but it wasn't having any adverse affects on their other functions. "Did you detect anything?" you asked.

"Yes," replied the Optimizer. "I sensed something, but I don't have a frame of reference for it." The Organizer agreed. "I've never smelled anything before."

"OK, that's actually a very pleasant scent," you replied, "Some sort of citrus fruit, I think."

One by one, they tried the rest, and you explained whether the scent was likable or not. The last one was apparently semen which a slight whiff confirmed. After the two avatars inhaled it like the rest, you explained, "That one is semen. Some females may find it slightly unpleasant, but for most it is extremely intoxicating." The ratio was probably reversed, but you figured a little white lie couldn't hurt. After checking the console, you announced, "Good news - none of these scents triggered any abnormal behavior of your primary functions."

You repeated the process using the vials containing various flavors for which they had no frame of reference, so you again described whether each was an agreeable or disagreeable flavor. Once again, the last vial was labeled semen. After each of the avatars had sampled it, you explained, "That is semen which most females consider to be a very flavorful and satisfying delicacy." You basically made that up, but if 6T9 was expected to gulp down loads of the stuff, she might as well find it enjoyable. You checked the console again and then stated, "The taste testing didn't cause any unexpected behavior for your primary functions either. We can move on to the tests for tactile response and sexual functions."
