What is his theory?
Temporal-spatial distortion
“There’s nothing wrong with magic, just space.” The two women looked at each other. “Sorry, this is going to be a bit man-splainy.”
June smiled, “If it helps save my life, I have no problem with it.”
“Alright,” he took a deep breath, “Magic works, just not incantations. Rituals do, and when you cast a ritual, it passively uses magic from the Ether. So the issue is the connection to the Nexus, meaning a temporal-spatial distortion.”
June nodded, “Sure, the Ether is everywhere, kind of like radio waves, and that’s why rituals are weaker cause they just direct ambient magic. But incantations are stronger because,” she stopped.
Abel nodded, “Because your wand, for example, acts as a special conduit to the nexus or some other source of magic and channels it directly.”
“Wait, so doesn’t that mean that the Nexus is broken? Why would it mean a temporal-spatial distortion? If it’s broken, then when we try and draw from the Nexus, we get a backlash, or feedback or whatever?” Missy asked.
Abel shook his head, “No, because if the Nexus was broken, incantations simply wouldn’t work. They work, but they are wrong, suggesting it is not the Nexus itself which is the problem.”
June smiled, “Yeah, but if the nexus was corrupted?”
Again Abel shook his head, “Then we would still be accessing the Nexus, and the incantations would be consistently wrong. But they are inconstantly wrong.”
“Oh shit, you’re right!” June exclaimed, “So that means if we find a source of magic, we can cast spells again by directly connecting to that magic source.” She ran over and hugged him before wincing from her burns. “That also means that if rituals work, we should be able to heal ourselves.
Abel laughed, “Only if we sit in the ritual circle for how long?”
June smiled, “Or if we take the ritual circle with us.” She pulled the apron, which covered her back off and set to work. Abel was paying attention to her work as she put it on the ground and started to scribble on it, but it didn’t take him long to realise that her pussy was on display while she was kneeling. He tried to look away and give her the dignity she deserved, but he kept glancing back.
After a few minutes, June tore off several lengths of fabric with ritual circles inscribed on them. “Here, put these over your hurts, we cast the ritual, and then we carry them with us.”
Missy blinked, “That is kind of ingenious. So Abel, how did you figure out it was a temporal distortion?”
Abel smiled, “I was attacked by an extinct demon.”
June handed the healing rags to each of her companions. “It will take a while, but at least we will be healing faster than if we didn’t have them. Is there another Apron, by the way?”
Abel shook his head, “Afraid not.” June blushed.
