Temple ruins

Korak slowly approached the temple ruins. He had heard rumors that strange things had happened here.

The stone temple was covered by plants and clearly the temple had been abandoned centuries ago.

However Korak always felt uneasy at temples like this.

He felt like Gods from ages that had long past were watching him from the dark shadows of the ruins.

Korak slowly approached the walls and walked through a hole in the wall.

He would go to the center of the temple.

Korak was curious if there actually was something strange going on here.

As he entered the temple he suddenly felt a jolt of fear through his body.

It was like his instinct warned him for some danger. Korak had felt it before when a jaguar had tried to approach him.

Korak looked around but did not see anyone.

Guess it is just the Temple that gives me the creeps, he thought as he kept walking forward.

All but undetected by the ape man's acute senses, a mysterious figure watched Korak from afar, stirring soundlessly in the shadows. Through high-powered binoculars, the silent watcher followed Korak as his bronze, muscular body crept stealthily through the overgrown ruins of the jungle temple.

Korak's nostrils flared, as he picked up the scents of those nearby. The mysterious spy had previously rigged the temple with decoy scents placed at various locations, each registering to Korak's jungle senses as the breeze changed. The decoy scents couldn't hope to actually fool Korak, but rather confuse and disorient him.

The binoculars followed the jungle boy's movements through the ruins. The decoy scents were not all that had been prepared for Korak's arrival... A variety of traps and snares lay hidden throughout the temple. Korak knew something suspicious was at hand... but how could he have known he was walking into such a deviously laid trap...??

As Korak moved deeper in the temple ruins the feeling of someone watching him increased.

Looking around he could not see anyone.

He convinced himself it was the presence of the temple playing tricks on his mind.

As he moved silently forward he suddenly picked up a scent.

There was at least one human nearby and he was close.

He looked but could not see anyone.

Whoever it was, was hiding himself well.

Listening carefully he attempted to pick up the sound of footsteps, breathing or anything that could help him locate the presence of the human.

However he did not hear anything.

Cautiously he stealthily crawled backwards.

He would create some distance and then circle around the direction the scent came from and try to sneak up on the hidden person.

However as he crawled away the wind started to turn.

Suddenly he picked up more scents.

There were people behind him!

Korak turned around but did not see anyone.

There was not a single sound except for his own nervous breathing.

Something was very wrong here, he thought as he could not make sense of the situation.

In most situations he could literally close his eyes and rely on his hearing and smell alone to locate persons and animals around him.

He focussed on the scents and smelled at least two humans.

He also picked up another scent of unknown orgin. It smelled like a animal but it was something he had never smelled before.

The mysterious figure hidden in the shadows could not help but smile while watching through the high powered binoculars as Korak looked around panicked.

Korak was confused by the contradictions of the information his senses gave him.

He was smelling a unknown creature and a least three people that seemed to have surrounded him.

However at the same time he did not see anything and there was not a single sound of anything laying in a ambush for him.

Deep in his mind a fear for something unnatural began to rise.

He was at a temple of a lost culture, were there ghosts here? or was some dark god playing tricks on him?

Korak shook away the thought as he looked around trying to figure out what was happening to him.

However then the wind slightly turned.

Korak smelled something else.

His eyes opened wide as he recognized the distinctive scent of a jaguar.

Confused he looked around expecting to see something moving.

His mind was telling him these invisible creatures were surrounding him.
