Tell the truth

You explain to her how you ended up in such a pitiable state. Your first attempt at being a private investigator, looking for Bri, getting caught, and your processing.

She stares at you in silence, seemingly astounded by the story. "Well . . . That's certainly a story." She looks at you some more, trying to process the whole ordeal, and scratches her close cropped black hair. You shift again, somehow feeling nervous under her gaze. "Well anyway, Patient 5678 isn't gonna be the best. Let's come up with a name for you until you remember yours." You cover one foot with the other, still nervous and trying to think up what your name could have been.

Suddenly Mary lets out a giggle. "I say Worm." You blush feeling terribly immasculated by this somehow. "What? Why? That's horrible."

She smiles back warmly. "Oh maybe I'm weird but I think it's cute. I love the way you're always squirming and wriggling, you look so small and helpless."

"But but but" you stammer out.

"Well if you want to get other names for other people that's fine, but until you figure out your real one _I_ am calling you Worm." She says smiling at you so broadly her eyes are squinting. There's something about her demeanor that despite her size you don't feel like you could argue with her.
