"Tell me where I can find Orestes." You see Iola shiver when you say his name, but you are much more interested in what she can tell you than how she feels about the hateful man.

"I don't know." The young woman whispers and her eyes flick in the direction of the doorway as if she expects to see him standing there ready to torment her again. She must sense your annoyance because she immediately apologizes. "I'm sorry We were blindfolded when Quintus brought us to him and the old lord had a guard bring me here right away while he took Ailia." You hear the tightness in her voice even if it is still too dark to see the tears that you know are welling up in the pampered princess' eyes.

"Wait, who's Quintus?" You thought you knew most of the lowlifes that Orestes dealt with, but you don't remember anyone name Quintus.

"He's my boyfrie..." She stops herself. "He's one of my father's guards. I thought he loved me, but he tricked Airlia and me into coming here and sol..." Again Iola voice falters but she's said enough.

"Your man sold your pretty ass to Orestes for a pouch of gold ... and your kid sister too." You finish for her. "By the Goddess, isn't that just like a fucking man. Don't forget this next time some sweet-talking cock says he loves you."

"Oh! Airlia, Do you think she's alright?" Iola's voice starts to rise. "I'm so stupid." You quiet her by placing three fingers on her trembling lips.

"Don't worry about your sister." You encourage the young woman, "I'm going to find that sanctimonious pervert and kill him." There was no point in telling Iola what you think the monster has been doing to Airlia for the past two or three days. If the kid was lucky she died quickly, your fists tighten as you realize that if she had, Orestes would have been back to **** Iola instead of leaving her to rot in that tiny cage. No, when you found Orestes you'd have to deal with whatever it was that remained of Iola's younger sister - that wouldn't be pretty.

"OK, think." You encourage her gently. "How many floors up did the guard bring you? What doors did you go through, did you notice ..." It was pointless. The sheltered young woman just didn't think like you did, instead of planning her escape the stupid twit had been a panicked mess when Orestes and his guards had led her away. She knew nothing that could help you; knowing what you do about Orestes it is just too much to hope that a girl who had servants to help her find her own ass after she used the chamber-pot each morning would be able to maintain her composure and pay attention to the details that might actually save her life.

You lead Iola back to the door pleased that, in spite of everything she'd been through, the girl moves quietly and obediently behind you.

"Go back up these steps to the roof and wait for me there." You whisper softly in her ear, a soft sweet-smelling ear you notice as your lips brush against it. The girl stiffens against you her hands clutching tightly at your arm.

"You can't leave me!" The panic is unmistakable even if she does have the sense to keep her voice barely audible. "He'll find me."

"No he won't." You try to convince her to use her head, "because I'll..." It was pointless. There was no way this abused noblewoman would be able to stay calm if you left her alone on the tower roof; unless you were willing to tie the poor whelp up and gag her she'd be screaming her head off before the sun peaked over the lightening horizon. Of course this room was pretty soundproof and had a good lock on the door, but not even you had the heart to lock her back in this room of horrors...Damn.
