Chapter 4

Tell Jules The Whole Story.
“We are still friends and broke up on good terms.” I shrugged.
“I take it she broke up with you then?” Julie asked as she pulled the bra straps down the arm holes of the shirt.
“How did you know?” I asked.
“I could never be friends with a guy who broke up with me. Question is why did you two split. I think you would make a cute couple.” Julie whipped the bra out from under her shirt and tugged the shirt down over her pert nipples.
“I had my choice of a few schools but she was worried I would put us in front of picking what was best for me when it came to picking colleges. You know what they say about if you love something set it free. She did and didn't give me much say in the matter.” I sighed. I still don't know if it was the right call but Alice didn't want me resenting her if I hadn't choose for myself. A big part of me wanted to stay with her but if we hadn't have started dating this would have been the school I would have picked so I had chosen here.
“Ouch. Just ripped that band aid of quickly I guess.” Jules said as she stuck the towel under the shirt and dried off anything she might have missed.
“Pretty much.” I smiled. That is what it felt like.
“You clearly both still have feelings for each other.”
“I have had feelings for her for longer then even I realized. She was my first love so I doubt I will ever stop caring for her even if we can't be together for the next four years.” I sighed. Part of me knew there was a long shot we could get back together but I had waited a long time for her the first time so what was more. Even if we never did she would always be one of my closets friends.
“I at least hope the breakup sex was really good.” Jules teased as she playfully swatted at me with the towel. It felt weird having someone to talk to about it.
“No comment.” I smiled and shook my head at Julie feeling a little flush in the cheeks.
“That good then. You dog.” Julie grinned and pointed at my laptop. “Who are those girls.” I glanced over to see the screen saver was active and my sister and Mandy scrolled on the screen.
“My sister and her girlfriend.” I replied. As I said it my sister Nicky came on the screen with her shirt pulled up to show her baby bump as she held her pregnant belly in her arms. “And that is my other sister and my soon to be niece.” I smiled. I was looking forward to being an uncle even if I would only get to see them rarely. “You have family? Brother or sisters?”
“One of seven. Brothers and sisters. Three of each. I am the middle child with three older then me and three younger.” Julie shrugged. I guess that explained her casual nature. She had grown up in a large household and probably felt right at home here in the dorms.
“Your parents didn't know what caused that?” I joked.
“Apparently not.” Julie laughed as she went to her bag and pulled out her laptop. I couldn't help but admire her figure as she leaned over. Her breasts hanging in the shirt she had borrowed while her ass swayed in the long flowing skirt she wore.
“So how do you want to do this? I can download them to my laptop...” I asked just as she pulled out a laptop of her own.
“Or we can download them to mine. It will be easier for me to name them and save them myself but I will need help scanning them in.” Julie shrugged.
“So I hand and you scan.” I smiled and closed my laptop and set it aside out of the way.
“More or less.” Julie nodded and walked over with her laptop. “Oh thanks for your catch in art class today. The teacher said I was not the only one to miss it and it is quit common for freshmen to not think about changing light during different times of day when doing art. She said it is a future lesson actually.”
“Glad I could help.” I said and pulled the chair out for her and she sat down at my desk.
“Thank you sir.” She smiled and plopped down, her breasts jostling slightly. I hooked her computer up to the scanner and waited for a second for it to connect and download the drivers and we were in business. I feed new drawing into the scanner were the scanner copied them to her computer and she had to name and save each one. Nothing else it gave us time to talk.
“So what does your family do?” She asked as I set a picture in the scanner and put another back on the pile of finished drawings as she took a quick break to steal a bit of pizza.
“Dads a general contractor. Roofing to plumbing. If he can't fix something he knows someone who can. Mom is a part time tailor so you and her would get along pretty well.” I smiled as I closed the scanner lid.
“Already trying to introduce me to your family. Easy tiger.” Julie teased as she hit scan.
“I didn't mean it like that.” I shook my head at her. “What about you?”
“Dad is an architect so both our dads work in construction I suppose. I get most of my artistic talent from him. Mom was a nurse but had to give it up to raise the seven of us.” Julie said as she began to type in the file name to save it. She labeled it by what it was and then the date on the drawing.
“I can imagine.” I shook my head. With seven kids I found it hard to believe her father had found time for a carrier himself.
“You actually make any of these yet?” I asked looking at a drawing of what looked to be a very sexy dress.”
“Some. Not that one though I am afraid to say. That vest I wore today though I made.” She glanced over to the vest laying on the bed with her brassier laying next to it.
“You have any pictures?” I asked wondering what she had of her work.
“Not on my phone. Sadly I am better at drawing then photography or I wouldn't be here. A friend took the pics I submitted of my work for me. Most of them I was the model so I didn't think the school wanted a bunch of selfies.” Julie smiled.
“Suppose not.” I shook my head. “How did your project go anyways today.”
“It is a work in progress. I plan to shoot some more tomorrow.” I shrugged as I put the dress drawing in and pulled out the top setting it aside.
“What are you suppose to be learning?” Julie asked.
“Long exposure versus short exposure.” I shrugged.
“Which is?” She glanced over at me.
I thought about the easiest way to explain it that a novice would understand. “You ever take a picture and it blurs because someone waved or you moved when taking it.”
“Sounds like you have seen my photography work already. All the time I am afraid to say.” Julie smirked as she scanned the dress in.
“You fix that through shorten the exposure time. It's how sports photographers capture the action on the field or how someone might snap a runway model. You effectively let less light in so it is perfect for action shots. You could catch rain drops in the air if you lowered the settings enough.” I smiled. It was pretty much what I was used to already. I could do those kind of shots in my sleep almost as I had shot basketball games and such in high school so I was used to catching action shots.
“Sounds like what I need to learn. So what is long exposure photography used for?” She asked as she stopped to take another bit of food.
“Night shots and stuff where you need longer to take a picture with finer detail. If I went outside and tried to take a picture during twilight I wouldn't get much if I just snapped the shot but if I took the same picture over a minute I get a lot more detail or if I was in a place during noon with a lot of shadows I could get details one might not see in the shadows in a regular shot. It great for getting details in architecture that don't show up in regular shots. Plus I have been playing with it. If you set the exposure long enough in a crowd you can blur everyone out like they are moving really fast or they are ghost in the pic or make them invisible if they are not in the picture very long which I was trying today. If I took a pic for a full minute and they were only in it for a second or two they would never show up so I can point it at a statue and take a picture and people can walk right in front of the camera and it wouldn't ruin my picture.” I smiled and decided to take a bite of pizza myself.
“To bad you couldn't get a person like that.” Julie shrugged.
“Depends on the person. A model would have to hold still for the entire time but they would basically be part of the back ground while everyone else would blur. Or become invisible It is the reason old timey cameras took so long to take pictures as the film back then was less sensitive to light and required longer exposure. And I hope I am not boring you.” I sighed realizing I was rambling. I had a habit of going on and on when something interested me.
“No. I find this really interesting. Like I said. I have tried taking pictures myself of my own stuff but they never come out like I want so I am more then interested. To bad you are not doing people yet because I would gladly model for you to try that in a shoot but when you need a model I am so in.”
