Chapter 4 by anxietycatalyst anxietycatalyst

What does Sun do?

Tease her

The next day, Sun was walking down the sidewalk lining the quad, Blake's lost book in the backpack slung over his shoulder. His plan was to return it to her as soon as possible. But not without getting a few cracks in, beforehand.

After not seeing her all morning, Sun pulled his scroll out and texted her again.

S: Hey, can we meet somewhere?

Sun waited patiently for the response, which came a few minutes later.

B: Why? Do you need help with another assignment?

S: No, nothing like that. I just want to...return the favor, for you helping me last night.

Again, there was a delay in the response.

B: Ok...? Where would you like to meet?

S: How about the quad? And...come alone.

Sun added that last part in order to spare Blake from being embarrassed in front of her teammates. Jokes between the two of them were one thing, but that'd be too far after how she helped him.

After Blake agreed, Sun sat on a bench set away from where most of the other people were walking, again hoping to spare Blake too much embarrassment, and waited for her to arrive. Which she did roughly ten minutes later.

"Hello, Sun," she said as she sat down next to him, her tone and expression completely flat.

"Hey, Blake," Sun responded. "Like I said, I really appreciated you helping me out last night." He reached into his bag and pulled out the book. "So, I figured the least I could do was return your book."

As the cover came into view, Blake's expression didn't change. Her eyes, however, flared something like anger and, with speed only a trained huntress could achieve, grabbed the book and shoved it into her own bag.

"Uh...t-thank you, Sun," Blake murmured, avoiding eye contact. "I, um..."

"Hey, it's no problem," Sun said, leaning forward. "You know, I...gave it a read, myself."

Blake's shoulders tensed, again not looking Sun in the eyes.

"You..."

"Well, skimmed more like. But I think I got the gist of it." Sun started grinning. "I didn't know you were into that. So naughty."

For the first time since she sat down, Blake turned to face her friend.

"Sun...please don't tell anyone else."

"Oh, no! Obviously, I won't tell anyone," Sun assured her. "After what you did for me, I owe you that."

Blake seemed to relax a bit hearing that, nodding.

"Although...I will say that some of the stuff in there was rather...exciting."

"...what are you getting at?" Blake asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Oh, nothing," Sun shrugged, standing up from the bench. "Just...if you ever wanted someone to help you live out some of those scenes...give me a call."

Sun punctuated that offer with a wink before walking off, leaving Blake with her book returned and some serious thinking to do...
