Chapter 4 by Daylan Daylan

Who picked it up?

Tamara Anderson

Tamara hated these kinds of parties.

They were too noisy, too crowded, and full of too many drunken boys who kept trying to sneak a grope of her breasts or ass whenever they brushed past her. It also did not help that she had very easy targets in both cases. Her thick purple sweater did little to hide the swell of her D-cup breasts and her blue jeans, despite being the largest size she could reasonably fit into, still made it clear her wide-hipped bottom was very shapely.

Given her druthers, she would have rather stayed home with a book or movie or even an online video essay than being here. The problem was that her brother Chris somehow always convinced her she needed to get out of the house more, get out there among the people and live a little. Every time he promised he would be her wing-man so she did not feel overwhelmed... up until the moment he got distracted by some girl he had the hots for, Brad pulled him off for some jock adventure, or some combination of both (as in this case) occurred.

So once again, Tamara found herself alone, nervously playing with the tip of her braided brown ponytail, and looking for the nearest corner to hide in until it was time to go home (since Chris had somehow made sure he was the only one with the house keys and their parents were not going to be there to let her in until much later that night). She tightly clutched the red cup in her hand, which had beer in it but was mostly untouched save for a few token sips, and served more as protection from being hit on by way of offering her a drink.

There was an area near the awning that seemed to have enough space that she felt like she could breathe again so she headed for it. As she drew closer she noticed something glittering on the ground and stooped down to pick it up. It was a ring, a very pretty ring at that, with a large green jewel set in the center. Tamara looked around to see if someone was searching the ground, as it seemed like something too expensive for someone to just casually drop.

Nobody seemed to be either looking in her direction or showed any signs they had lost such a fancy piece of jewelry so Tamara decided to try it on. If any lost and found posters showed up at school the next day or she overheard someone mention they were looking for a lost ring later tonight, she would return it. For now, if she was stuck at this party, getting a pretty new ring out of it was better than most past experiences.

"Hey, sis," Chris' voice called out as he sauntered over with his arm around Tiffany's waist, "Whatcha got there?"

Tamara started as she lowered her hand from where she had been admiring how the ring looked on her finger. "N-Nothing," she stammered, "Just some ring somebody dropped."

"A ring?! Lemme see!" Tiffany exclaimed, stepping away from Chris to take Tamara's hand so she could look closer at the piece of jewelry.

Tamara tried not to blush or swallow nervously as the slender, leggy brunette's soft fingers brushed against her palm and Tiff's thumb ran over the ring and her other knuckles. For what was the hundredth time over the past year, Tamara internally cursed that Tiff was as straight as an arrow... unlike her.

There had been a secondary reason Tamara had agreed to come along to the party. Chris knew she was gay and while he seemed generally supportive of her, he also knew she had longstanding crushes on both Tiffany and, more relevantly, the girl of the night. While Tamara was fairly certain Jessica was straight too, the whispered possibility of seeing her in a fancy party dress had been too much for Tamara to pass up.

"I've never seen it before," Tiffany finally said when she let go of Tamara's hand, "Maybe it belongs to Jess or her mom?"

"Maybe," Tamara replied, trying not to feel too sad as Tiffany went back to draping herself over her brother, "Do you know where she is?"

"Not sure," Tiffany said, "She was supposed to join us for the beer pong game we were just about to start up..."

"You're invited too, by the way," Chris threw in.

"...but she went upstairs to put some box she found on the doorstep away," Tiffany continued, "and I haven't seen her since."

Tamara sighed, "I wish she was here right now, then."

So how does this first wish get granted?
