Chapter 39

That went better than expected
Talk to Mei
After cleaning up breakfast, I seek out Mei. Alone, she sits on the roof, unassisted by an ice wall like she probably was, I struggled to climb up to the roof. Eventually I made it and sat beside her. "What are you thinking?" I ask
"I'm thinking about going home" Mei said sadly. I wrap an arm around her in an attempt for a half hug.
"Why does going home make you sad?" I ask.
"You said it yourself, I'm just a game. I go home, and none of this ever happened. I never bonded with these girls. I never learned about your world. I never met you" with that, Mei burst out into tears, clutching my chest tightly.
"Well I know I'll never forget you Mei" I say softly as I hug her.
"But I will, as soon as I go back, I won't remember any of this, like it never happened" she cried.
Having nothing to come back against that, I only grimace and hug her tighter. We stay like that for a while.
