Bruno doesn't respond immediately, but you can hear him breathing heavily on the other end of the call. He must be furious. "Please," he suddenly changes his tone, "Leave Angie alone. Let her go and be none the wiser. I'll undo what I did."

"You can call off the IRS? Or re-open the paper and hire everyone back?"

"...No. I can't do either of those things, but I can try to make it up to you. Please. I'll give you $10 million, you can start afresh. Please, anything," Bruno begs.
