Taking a vacation, Chapter 2

"We're here!" Gwen announced as she, Kori, and Kitty entered Wayne Logan's vacation home, where the newly engaged Mary Jane & Barbara were staying. The two redheads eagerly greeted and their friends, who excitedly hugged them immediately upon seeing the engagement ring on MJ's finger.

"Congratulations!" Kori smiled, delighted. "I'm so happy for you two."

"We all are," Kitty added. "I knew that you were planning to pop the question the second you asked for time alone, Babs."

"Yeah, I wasn't exactly subtle about it. And thanks again, Kitty -- it really means a lot to us."

"Thank Wayne, it's his place," smiled Kitty. "All I did was ask him."

"I don't know -- I'd be terrified to ask the Batclaw for a favor."

"Nah, he's a big teddy bear once you get to know him. You know, he'd like both of you."

"Really? I've worked with him a few times and whenever I tried to talk to him, all I'd get are one-word answers."

"That's how he is with most people. He's talked about you before, Babs. He really respects you."

"Huh. Wow. That's really cool."

"Enough about that, though, I wanna hear about the proposal!" Kitty grinned. "Tell us everything."

"It was the best moment of my life," MJ said, beaming. "I mean, a sunset proposal on a beautiful beach -- it was like something out of a movie."

"Yeah, we were actually taking about you guys just before I proposed, and how great you seemed together. My heart was pounding -- I'd never been so nervous in my life," Barbara added.

"You had nothing to be nervous about, baby. No way I'd have ever said no," MJ gushed, kissing Barbara's cheek.

"To the happy couple. You two are perfect together," Gwen toasted as the five women clinked champagne glasses and drank.

"Well, it helps that Barbara Gordon is pretty much the perfect woman," beamed MJ. "Speaking of which, you three are pretty perfect together too, you know. When is one of you going to propose?"

Kori, Kitty & Gwen all blushed, sharing embarrassed looks among one another. "We don't know. We're really happy together, and I could see myself marrying both Kitty and Kori," Gwen answered, prompting nods of agreement from her girlfriends. "But it's something we've only discussed a little."

"Do they even allow polyamorous marriages in places like NYC or Gotham?" wondered Kori.

"I don't think so," Barbara added. "It wasn't recognized the last time I checked. I think there are places you could have a three-way marriage, though, so there might be a way to pull it off.

"Believe it or not, I do know three women who are married to one another," Gwen chimed in.

"...Really? Who?" asked Kori.

"You girls ever met Scandal Savage?" Gwen asked.

"Scandal Savage? The daughter of the the Hellfire Club's Black King Vandal Savage?"

"Yup, she's got two wives. I've tangled with her on plenty of occasions, and I've actually teamed up with her a few times as well. I actually got to know her pretty well -- her wives are everything to her."

"One of them's gotta be Knockout, right?" asked Barbara. "I've butted heads with her before. My jaw dropped when I first saw her... she's unbelievable."

"Yeah, Scandal married Knockout, as well as a woman named Liana. Used to be a stripper. I actually helped Scandal track down a group of thugs who thought they could hold her for ransom... she's every bit as sexy as Knockout."

"What happened to the thugs you tracked down?" Kitty asked.

"All I know is that after we saved Liana, Scandal and Knockout paid them a visit later on. I don't know what they did, and I'm not sure I want to know... Anyway, they had a group ceremony. I asked if it was legally recognized, and Scandal basically said 'Fuck that. *I* recognize it, my wives recognize it, my friends recognize it, that's all that matters.'"

"That's a great way to look at it," opined MJ. "Honestly, I love Babs, and to hell with anyone who can't accept that. That's how you three should look at things whenever you get married."

"It delights me to hear that from you," Kori said. "I'm very happy to have friends like you supporting us."

"Just make sure Babs and I are part of your wedding, because you're damn sure going to be a part of ours," MJ said back.

"Of course -- you two are our best friends. Amazing how close we've gotten over the past few months," Gwen mused.

"It really is. Cliche as it might sound I feel like we've known each other for years," Kitty added. "And if this week goes the way I plan, I bet we become even closer friends."

"The kind with benefits?" MJ asked, shooting Kitty a flirty smile.

"Maaaaaybe," Kitty said coyly, "but let's not get ahead of ourselves just yet..."
