Take it to Jessica

You decide to take the box to Jessica. She's your girlfriend and while you haven't known her as long as Jimmy or Trish, she's truly your best friend and the one you trust the most. After all, if the pens really do what they say, you wouldn't really trust Jimmy, the consummate prankster, to behave himself while using them.

It's the weekend so you turn up at Jess's place unannounced - Mrs Hunt lets you in and tells you that Jessica is in her room. When you enter her room you find her sitting on her bed browsing the web on her Macbook.

"Hey there!" she smiles sweetly as she gets up and kisses you tenderly on the lips, "So what cha wanna do today?"

"Well," you explain, "I found this box on my doorstep and inside were these things called 'Costume devices'. Thought I'd bring them over and we could give them a try if you wanted."

As soon as you took out the box, Jessica looked at you with a strange gaze as if she were evaluating you.

"How odd," she replies with a sly grin, "I got a very similar box myself. Wanna see?"

She reaches under her bedsheets and pulls out an identical box. When she opens it, you find that there are also two pens inside with the same faded note which fails to explain what the second pen does.

As you hold the second pen, which is coincidentally coloured brown, you wonder what it's purpose is. More importantly though, you wonder if the pens actually work.

"Those pens are actually quite amazing," you hear Jessica say, "I've tried them out actually and I was doing some research on the net before you came in. Nothing useful I'm afraid.:

You look at her in surprise as she says that and you query what the second pen does.

"That's actually quite simple really. When you put on a skin and zap yourself with the brown pen, you get the person's mannerisms and personality and basic memory. If you zap yourself a second time though, you get access to all their memories. It's actually quite a thrill to see someone's whole life before you like an open book. That said, it takes effort to immerse yourself into their psyche - it's not as easy as just zapping yourself and acting like that person perfectly."

Jessica smiles at you sweetly and you get this sinking feeling in your stomach. You hadn't noticed a single thing wrong with her but you just know what's about to come next.

"You're not actually Jessica are you?" you ask suspiciously.
