Take a walk. Meet a colleague

You need fresh air and exercise. You stride quickly out of the building, tamping down your irritation and disappointment at Diana's curt dismissal of you, and her stated disinterest in pursuing the relationship that had begun so spectacularly. You tell yourself to get over it, but you can't help but admit that the pretty headmistress has gotten under your skin.

"Dean Hawkfeather! Care for some company?" a voice stops you, and you turn to see Honey Thibodeaux approaching with a smile.

"I was just going for a walk, but you're welcome to join me," you say politely, although you'd much rather be alone with your thoughts.

"Thank you. I try not to intrude, but it's a lovely afternoon for a walk, and so much more pleasant to share a stroll I think. The lake is particularly pretty at this time of day."

You walk a while in silence before she turns her head and looks at you with a crooked smile.

"Tell, me Kyle what's going on between you and Diana?" The question takes you aback for a moment and you hesitate before answering.

"Well, it's been a little tense with my insistence on enforcing the Code of Conduct the-"

"Not that, you big oaf." Honey interrupts you sharply. "I mean between you and her, did you get into a fight?"

"No, and if we did, I wouldn't tell you," you answer with a frown. She puts a gentle hand on your arm and gives you a disarming smile.

"Don't get annoyed,"she says, "but I've known Diana for a long time now, and something's going on with the two of you..." she pauses and looks away as she continues to think out loud. "If you two haven't been fighting - Oh Holy Shit!" Her fingers tighten on your arm "You fucked! I figured it would be Coach Watts, but you're the one who got into her pants."

You meet Honey's questioning gaze levelly, refusing to confirm her speculation, but not willing to lie about it either. She accepts your silence as confirmation and she gets a silly grin on her face that she doesn't bother to hide.

"That must have been hot!" She licks her bright lips as she stares at you. "You didn't have that much time either. Must have been a wham-bam-thank you Ma'am kind of thing, followed by a quick shower and change of clothes, huh?" Her bantering tone annoys you and you stop walking and pull your arm from her touch.

"Good day Miss Thibodeaux," you try to keep your voice pleasant and low but you suspect this Cajun mind-reader can read you as well as she reads her friend. "I have some work in my office that needs my attention."

"Wait, Kyle." Honey stops you once again as you turn to leave. "If you want a relationship with Di, there are some things you really should know about." She smiles as she sees the sudden interest in your eyes, "Let's keep walking Dean Hawkfeather. You tell me all about banging my friend, and I'll let you know some secrets about her that make her tick."
