Take a bath

Roxy is standing around looking awkward. She always looks awkward with her tall, lanky body, but now there’s uncertainty on her face.

Lisey runs upstairs. You point at Kris and Karen.

“Keep an eye on her,” you order. “Take some chocolate from my stash and keep her company. Make sure she’s OK. Don’t let her leave.”

Karen salutes ironically. “OK, boss.”

“Damn right,” you say.

“Can we embezzle chocolate from the stash at least?” she asks.

“It’s the American way,” you reply, turning back to Roxy. You hear Karen and Kris following Lisey upstairs. The house is quiet and creaky. The clock in the dining room ticks loudly.

“So,” Roxy says, planting her hands on her hips and looking down at you.

“So, things just got crazy,” you reply, still annoyed. “I’m going to take a bath.”

She watches you, looking for a hint. You don’t give her one. You’re still mad.

“Um… am I coming?” she asks hopefully.

You turn and start up the stairs, but look over your shoulder are her. “Are you?”

“Yes!” She dashes after you, and you try not to laugh as you head down the hallway to the bathroom. You take your basket of shampoo and things off the shelf and put it on the sink, bending to turn on the water.

Roxy closes the door.

You check the temperature, then start to strip down. There’s no show for Roxy here, you just want them off. She hurriedly does the same, and in seconds you’re both nude, facing each other, standing on the blue rug beside the old, claw-foot bathtub.

You step up to her and gently rest your hands on her waist. She doesn’t know what to do with hers, so she just waits.

“Promise me you won’t do something that stupid again,” you say.

“I was trying to help,” she replies defensively. It’s chilly in this room, and her skin is already covered in goosebumps. Her little nipples are getting hard, and it’s distracting.

“I know you were. And it was sweet.” You stand up on your toes and kiss her. Now she grabs you, pulling your body to hers and getting into it. You let her, but just for a second… the but will overflow. Someone has to think about these things, and it’s never girls like Roxy. You pull away and bend to turn it off.

“You are so pretty,” she says.

Usually she’s acting tough. It’s cute to see this vulnerability in her.
