Take a Walk

You need a walk. You stand up and walk to the door that leads downstairs. The night air is chilly and the light from you phone casts strange erotic shadows. You make your way down to the basement.

You don’t even really focus on where you are going, you merely want to clear your head. You walk into a small mausoleum, likely one for lesser nobles of the castle. The coffin in the far wall strikes you as different. It is black and far more ornate. You walk over to it.

Inside is the skeleton of a woman dressed in what was a fine pale blue silk dress. What is truly odd though is an oak stake lodged in her chest. Did somebody think this woman was a vampire? Is it possible she was a vampire?

You pull out the stake and examine her more closely. She looks human enough. You run your fingers along her teeth. The canines are unusually sharp.

“Ow! Fuck.”

You repress the urge to suck on your bleeding finger. You apply direct pressure and look back at the skeleton. The canine you cut yourself on has grown long, like a fang.

You are mesmerized as the body begins to inflate. Flesh begins to cover bones. She is still alive! She sits up.

She tries to speak, but her dessicated vocal cords can only rasp. You give her your hand to help her. Rather than using it to stand she takes it and with lightening speed sinks her fangs into your wrist.

You start to scream. Before you can finish pleasure washes over you. All you can think is this must be what heroin feels like. You feel your brain begin to shut down from lack of oxygen. Intellectually you know you need to fight or you’re going to die. Unfortunately for you, your body simply isn’t listening.

Blackness engulfs you.

You feel a hand caress your cheek.
