Take a Trip to a Remote Cabin

"Tell you what," Carrie says, "I've got a remote cabin out in the country. Why don't we go there for a week. Then we can really play around with this remote without annoying interruptions or the risk of breaking our apartment."

"Okay, that sounds fun," you say.

The two of you start packing. Carrie says that there's already blankets and furniture there, but you'll want clothes and toys and will have to stop at the store on the way to pick up groceries for the week. You pack yourself a few sets of clothes and some swimwear. You notice Carrie's packing a lot more stuff.

"Do we really need all those clothes for just a week?" you ask.

"Yup." She grins as she closes the overstuffed suitcase. "We might not be bringing it all home with us," she explains.

You think you have a rough idea of what she's implying.

Once everything's packed, and once you've made absolutely sure that the TF Remote is packed, the two of you load up the car and set off. Your first stop is at the mall where you pick up your groceries for the week. Carrie also disappears on you while you're waiting in the checkout line. "I'll meet you back out at the car," she says, giving a quick kiss on the cheek.

You checkout and take your groceries out to the car. You finish loading the car and put the cart back. Twenty minutes after that, you finally see Carrie walking across the parking lot.

"What took you so long?" you ask.

"Just wanted to pick up a few things I didn't have at home," she replies sweetly.

Carrie insists on driving. That's fine with you since you have no idea where you're actually going and don't feel like arguing over directions. It takes you most of the day to get to the cabin, a nice, simple, single-story building out in the literal middle of nowhere. After getting an early supper in the nearest town, it's another hour before Carrie turns onto a gravel road leading into the woods that turns to dirt after about a half hour. Half an hour after the driveway switches to dirt, you pull up at the cabin.

Looking around, you say, "Wow. You were right about it being remote."

"Yup." Carrie watches as you take in the cabin, the woods and the field and small lake that you notice across the driveway from the cabin. "Let's at least get the food unloaded. Then we can go from there."

You get everything out of the car and put away all the food. By the time you're all done with that, it's nearly 9:00. You can't help but let out a yawn.

Carrie smiles at you. "You look tired," she says. "Let's just head to bed and then we'll have all day tomorrow to play."

"Okay," you agree, yawning again.

"I've just got one question before we go to bed," Carrie says.

"Yeah?"

"Do you want to wait and try out the remote in the morning? Or do you want to use it overnight and surprise you?"
