Chapter 128 by Daylan Daylan

How To Pass The Time?

Take The Cloak For A Spin

Historical Figures of Magic was so dreadfully dull that the prospect of immediately turning your attention towards more academics makes your brain throb. With that in mind, you may as well try out your new present and see if you can even get it to work.

Tara flies over to you, plopping herself into the breast pocket of your uniform jacket and leaving only her head sticking out like she was a kangaroo joey. That is probably the safest spot for her as you flip the cloak over your head, realizing you never asked if there was some kind of spell you had to perform to get it to activate. Fortunately that does not seem to be an issue as, from what you can see of the mirror along the wall through the cloak's material, the image of your covered figure ripples and turns invisible once the Invisibility Cloak is in place.

You open the door a crack, peeking out into the hall to see nobody around before stepping out and slowly closing it again. It is a time of day where a lot of afternoon classes are still in session, meaning the halls and the common area are mostly empty, so you only get a few chances to see if the Invisibility Cloak is doing its job. None of the handful of students you pass seem to notice you and someone seems to have left the front door open, so you quickly slip outside.

You think over places you could go, as there are several options. You could head for Pegasus House to maybe drop in on your friends there early and give Selena a friendly scare, see if you could sneak into Phoenix House and surprise Harmony as she had once surprised you, or just find someone at random and see how far you could follow them to-- wait, is that Amelia?

Yes it is, you realize as you watch her walking down a path that does not seem to be leading towards any of the regular classroom buildings. In fact, it looks like the one that leads towards the old, abandoned Alchemy Studies building. Once you realize that, and the most likely reasons she might have for heading in that direction, your choice becomes clear.

Falling into step behind her, you follow along. She stops every now and then to look around but she does not seem to see you or anyone else, as there is no change in her reaction or body language even when she is staring directly at the place where you are standing. As you kind of suspected, your destination seems to be a bench that looks somewhat familiar to you, since you saw a pretty faithful recreation of it in your mind only a few hours ago.

Also as you suspected, you see Harmony sitting on that bench, ramrod straight in a way that betrays her nervousness despite the fact she is trying to keep her face in that haughty, superior expression she normally wears. "Well," she says, "If nothing else, you have the ability to be prompt when summoned."

Amelia... says nothing. She is looking at Harmony, arms crossed under her chest, eyes narrowed as she glares at the blonde with something that seems a mix of irritation and curiosity. The silence drags on for several seconds, Harmony looking irritated as well that Amelia does not seem to have reacted to her combative attempt to break the ice. Eventually, Harmony starts to say, "You probably have an idea about what I want to talk--"

"Not here," Amelia suddenly snaps, tilting her head further down the trail, "There's an even more private place this way. Follow me."

Harmony frowns disapprovingly but looks around cautiously before standing up. "Very well," she says curtly before the two of them continue down the way, not knowing that you are in tow.

Amelia veers off the pathway, heading toward a small cobblestone structure that looks like some kind of abandoned shed, forcing you to drop back a little further so your own footsteps blend in with those of the two women as they walk over the fallen (and audibly crunchy) yellow and brown leaves. Perhaps it had once been a storage facility for materials used in Alchemy Studies but now it was a hollowed out husk with the door removed and the single window cracked and dirty.

Up to this point your curiosity had been controlling you as you were curious to see if Harmony had any intention of taking what you suggested to heart or was just going to push through with her plan anyway. Now however, as you angle around so that you can see them through the window, you start to wonder if this is okay. This IS intended as a private conversation between each other after all, even if you knew ahead of time such a conversation would be happening.

On the other hand, it might be good to see if the two of them actually can make an attempt to get along... or if they might end up hurting each other more.

To Peep or Not To Peep?
