Synthetic

There are many types of synthetic creatures such as robots or androids, but few are sufficiently advanced to achieve consciousness. However, per the Galactic Equality Charter, those that are self-aware are provided equal status to organic lifeforms. Onboard the Starpoint, there is only one robot that is this advanced. Known by their model designation, 6T9, this synthetic is a form of highly adaptable robot that excels in performing repetitive tasks. As a result of prior augmentations, 6T9 began to exhibit symptoms of self awareness, and later tests verified 6T9 met the necessary criteria to be considered as a conscious synthetic.

Body type: Synthetic-Electro-Mechanical (S.E.M.) 6T9's design allows it to alter nearly any aspect of its shape to suit its task. Their outer skin covering is a highly advanced fluidic polymer that can adjust to any form. Underneath, nanoscopic parts shift to accommodate the form by providing necessary structures, moving joints and so forth. It can appear bipedal, quadrapedal, or even add wheels. Altering shape takes only a few minutes to return to a previously known form, but transforming to brand new shapes can take several hours.

Appearance: Any. Due to 6T9's polymer skin, whatever shape it takes will have a glossy sheen.

Physical abilities: Shape-shifting, near infinite endurance, high strength in certain forms

Growth rate: Not applicable. Factory manufacturing for a similar model is 90 days.

Lifespan: Not applicable. However, their standard warranty is 12 years.

Intelligence: 6T9 has distributed inter-linked processing nodes throughout its body which independently provide control of the nano parts while also serving collectively to provide higher level thinking capabilities. 6T9's thinking capacity has reached tier 2 self-awareness and has demonstrated qualities of fast-learning and rapid decision-making. However, it has yet to display any significant emotional response to be rated at a higher tier of sentience.

Sexual Characteristics: Like other synthetic creatures, 6T9 lacks any sexual characteristics, and has no ability to procreate. Due to it's shape-shifting capability, 6T9 can mimic the form of nearly any creature, including the appearance of their sexual organs. The model line that 6T9 comes from is designed with the flexibility to function as either a standard worker-bot or sex-bot as needed.

Dangers: As with any robotic creature, it is important to give clear and non-conflicting instructions. Vague commands can result in unexpected results, while conflicting commands can lead to lock-ups and emergency shutdowns.

Additional details: Synthetics achieving consciousness outside of a lab environments are relatively rare. Normally a robot reaching self awareness would immediately be relocated to a highly controlled environment where their subsequent development could be carefully controlled and studied. 6T9's advancement while onboard the Starpoint is a very unusual situation for which there are no established protocols.
