The teacher ordered all the students to make a single line.

Miranda struggled to stand up and line up alongside her teammates, leaving her at the bottom of the line.

—Now you'll swim in the order of the line. You will swim back and forth, I will take the time it takes you to go and return —she explained.

Miranda felt uncomfortable at the thought of passing among the last. She needed to get out of that activity and try to sneak into the bathroom.

Miranda was counting how many students were missing before she passed, and saw that there were still many missing. She ran a hand over her stomach and looked into the bathroom.

Maybe she could get out of line for a moment and use the bathroom. After all, the teacher was very focused on taking other people's time, and there were still too many before her turn. But if the teacher were to discover she, it would be a real problem.
