Suzanne, 28 Year Old Activist

Suzanne is drowning her sorrows, down at the local dyke bar.

"I don't know, I just don't know." Suzanne sighs into her beer, talking to Sarah, her best friend. "Can we really go on like this?"

"It's the right thing to do." Sarah replies stubbornly, nursing her own drink.

"We've been doing the right thing for the last ten years. Look where it's got us. A decade of fighting for lesbian rights, and what has changed? If anything, the homophobes seem even more emboldened and loud than they did back in 2012."

"It might seem that way, but it's not actually true. There's been lots of pro-"

Suzanne interrupts Sarah midway through her sentence. "And while our friends' careers are all kicking off, look as us. Single. Lonely. Broke. There's no money in rights activism."

Sarah puts her hand on her friend's. "Hey, we've got each other, right?"

Suzanne pulls her hand away. "Yeah, for now. Until one of us finds a partner and leaves the other all completely alone. Knowing my luck, I'll be left circling the dregs of this dyke bar, while you find some billionaire love of your life and are off to the Carribean, never to return."

Sarah scoffs. "Come on now."

"No seriously, I won't stand for it! I want to have a billionaire lover! No, actually I want to BE a billionaire! Or you know what, I'd even settle for being one of those pathetic slutty bimbos you see getting married to the old ugly billionaires. At least they've got money and security, and companionship."

"Oh come on. You would NOT rather be a bimbo." Sarah remarks flatly.

"I would. Billionaire, or bimbo. Either one is a dream, compared to this."

"WELCOME TO BIMBO OR BILLIONAIRE!" A man's booming voice announces, to the cheering of a crowd all around her.

Suzanne blinks, disoriented, suddenly blinded by several bright spotlights pointing towards her.
