Chapter 20 by manmanzane
How did the talk with my parents go?
Surprisingly well
Casey and I went down to the kitchen, hoping to find my parents. Instead, we were only met with silence when we called for them. We looked in the kitchen and found it to be empty. There was a note on the table.
"Hey guys. Leaving with Harry to do some more wedding stuff. Will come back soon. -Love,Emma."
"I wonder what she meant by wedding stuff?" Casey thought out loud.
"Probably buying balloons or flowers." I answered as I went over to the coffee maker. I poured myself a cup and offered one to Casey which she refused.
"Are you sure she is buying stuff? Maybe she is doing something more 'interesting' than that." suggested Casey with a wicked grin on her face.
I nearly spat out the coffee I was drinking. I choked on it and was coughing for a few seconds until Casey helped me come back to life. "Not funny. You have such a dirty mind." I remarked. I tried my best to conceal my smile but failed when Casey pointed it out.
"I thought guys like girls with a dirty mind. Isn't it what all boys have?" Casey asked innocently. I couldn't answer her when someone replied "no." We turned towards the door and saw my parents standing there. I gulped and glanced at Casey. She looked equally embarrassed at the intrusion.
"Jake." my dad started.
"Can you at least lock the door when you have a girl over?" finished my mother. I was surprised at the response. I thought that my parents would be furious if they found out a someone else is in the house. I distinctly remember a guy that Emma brought over when she was in middle school. My parents raised hell about it and kicked the guy out of the house. They kept arguing that Emma is too young to have a boyfriend and does not understand about true love. I guess my years away really softened them up.
"Gee...okay. Sorry for keeping the door locked." I stuttered. Casey giggled on my left and I shot her a look. She immediately quieted down.
My parents nodded at my response and went back to the room.
"Well, that was easy." Casey said. I totally agreed with her.
