How does the day proceed?
Surprisingly Smoothly
You go to your history class, only catching the last few minutes. You walk in and take your seat in the middle of the class, Mr. Jones telling you that Ms. Walters already explained to him that you would be late. You sit quietly through the remainder of the lesson, but never really pay attention. All you can think about is how complicated everything got so fast, and how you’re going to explain you disappearing to Heather.
As the bell rings, you remain seated till everyone else has left the class. You realize you left your backpack in physics, so you’ll need to get that.
As you walk out of class however, someone tackles you, wrapping you in a tight embrace.
‘Oh come on, I’m not even hard’
“What happened to you? I was starting to think I scared you away with all the teasing.” You look down and see that it’s Heather, who looks both worried and annoyed with you.
“Well I’m glad to hear you missed me that much.” You say, glad to see this isn’t another wild sexcapade. She blushes at your remark, and quickly retracts herself.
“Whatever, I wasn’t that worried.” She turns and looks down at your legs. “Weren’t you wearing jeans today? What, were you gone so long cause you crapped your pants?” she snickers.
“Actually, my pants got ripped on a door handle.”
“Yeah, right. And was that before or after the naked models started falling from the sky?”
“Before.” You respond confidently, knowing that that isn’t all that far from the truth.
“Alright then big guy. Take it easy.” She says, returning to her usual cocky demeanor. “Oh, got something for you. You left this in physics.” She raises your backpack off the ground. “When you didn’t come back I figured I’d carry it for you till we met back up in class.” You take the bag from her and put it on.
“Thanks”
“No problem big gu-”
You cut her off as you pull into a full embrace. You aren’t really sure what made you do it, it just felt right.
“No, really. I mean it.” You tell her. You can’t see her face, but you can tell she’s turned a deep shade of red from the heat you feel radiating off her.
“Heh heh, alright there Chris, I know I’m great and all but it’s not like I did anything special.” You pull away, smiling at her. She smiles back at you.
“Let’s uh, lets head to class.” She says, still red from the hug.
Other than getting a lot of looks from Patty in English, nothing special happens for the rest of the day. Your pretty sure Heather noticed the two of you looking at each other, but either she thought nothing of it or she just decided not to ask. Heather even quit messing around with you for the whole class, presumably still scared you might run off if she continued.
After class ends you and heather say goodbye, heading in different directions as you park on opposite ends of the school. You see Patty give you a wink as you walk out.
As you head to your car, you feel like you just might be able to survive if things don’t deviate from how today went. There is one issue though. You aren’t sure you can see your stepmom and stepsister this soon. You can’t confidently say it won’t lead to similar scenarios.
You could try Heathers, but that would almost definitely lead to exactly what you were trying to avoid today. Even worse you might end up banging her mom. On the other hand, maybe you could explain the situation to her. If anyone was gonna believe you it’s her.
Then there’s your other best friend Tyler. You don’t have any classes with him this year, but you’ve been friends since the first grade. You know he’d let you stay the night if you asked. Should be risk free too, since his mom passed away when he was young, and his older sister is in another state at college.
And obviously you could just risk going home. Maybe it’s a one time per person kind of wish, as much of a long shot as that is. That and it may be best to try and clear the air sooner rather than later.
