Chapter 32

Do the teens make it through the parental interrogation?
Surprisingly, they pull it off..
"...well, I'm sorry for making assumptions about your children," Tanya's mother says to Kyle and Maggie's parents. "I've just heard things about those games and that music. I just...I'm shocked that hazing has gotten so bad at the school."
"It is awfully terrible, Mrs. Wegner," Maggie says, "Kyle and I were so happy when Tanya decided to start being nice to us, but that led to her getting bullied, too."
Maggie's father, who was there on his own due to being divorced, nodded his head, "honestly, I know Maggie dresses different than most kids and listens to some weird music, but I assure you she's a good kid."
"Thanks, Dad."
Kyle's mother, sitting in between her husband and son holding their hands tightly, adds, "honestly Janet," she says to Tanya's mom, "I'm relieved to know Tanya's hanging out with Kyle and Maggie. Those cheerleaders give my little angel such a hard time at school. They could both benefit from a friendship. Sure he's a little nerdy but he doesn't have a Satantic bone in his body."
Kyle blushes and covers his face. Maggie told him to let her handle the situation and kept him in the dark about what was really going on with Tanya.
Mr. Wegner paces the floor. He lost his mind when Mrs. Wegner told him what happened. He was ready to punch Maggie's father in the mouth assuming he was raising his daughter inappropriately and it was rubbing off on his daughter. Turns out his daughter had a reputation of being a stuck up bully. Now he wanted to burn the school down to protect his little girl. "Tanya, you're out of cheerleading," he said, "and I don't want you hanging out with any of those sports kids anymore. They're a bad influence."
Tanya was ready to protest but her brain quickly told her his logic made sense. "Oh, okay," she says.
Tanya's mother still wasn't completely convinced but it did sound like cheerleading was having a negative influence. Plus, she wasn't about to argue with her husband in front of Mr. Mendelshon and the Boynes. The one benefit was that the Kyle boy had grades in the top five percent of the class. Tanya was only in the top 25 percent so maybe he'd be a good influence in that aspect. "Maybe they could start a study group?" She suggests. "Maybe you could leave the kids for dinner and they could spend time doing schoolwork together." Secretly, she saw it as an opportunity to observe the kids out of the view of their parents.
Mr. Mendelshon nods, "that's not a bad idea, Janet. I know my Maggie could benefit. And maybe she could get some fashion tips from your daughter."
"Dad!" Maggie says clearly embarrassed.
"I'd like that!" Tanya says genuinely enthused by the opportunity. She's eager to spend time with her two crushes.
Mrs. Boyne nods, "I'm okay with that idea. Kyle, do you want to stay for dinner?"
He nods his headed and says "yes, definitely." He's also eager to spend time with his crush, Tanya.
Mr. Mendelshon and the Boynes leave their kids behind. Maggie is relieved when they're out the door, although she wasn't really expecting a study session.
"Okay, kids, it'll be a couple hours until dinner, so why don't you get studying. Tanya, you can either study in the basement but your brother's down there playing video games, upstairs in your room with the door open, or at the dining room table."
Where do they go to study?
