Chapter 53 by Doobler Doobler

Are the Digi-Eggs closer to hatching?

Surprisingly, no.

Unfortunately, each of the Digi-Eggs still had a “0%” listed next to “Progress”. Lenny was smart enough to know what that meant, so he groaned while his girlfriend gave an apparently masterful foot massage.

“Aw, that’s it…!” Jenny moaned. “You wanna do some ‘a this on camera? I bet my subscribers would love to watch.”

“I-I’m fine, just relax…”

Like the last time he checked there weren’t a lot of options, but now he had an actual chance to examine what they all meant. It was all a little obfuscated by complicated language, but Lenny eventually figured out that there were “Examine” and “Transfer” options.

The first two eggs (“Pink” and “Purple”) seemed a good enough place to start, so he “Examined” them first. The app said they held a “Holy-type” and “Dark-type” respectively, ones on the level of baby Digimons. “Guess the transfer from the game was still pretty costly, at least they’re the same type as Angewomon and LadyDevimon.” he thought, before tapping the “Transfer” option. He was planning on backing out once he looked at the sub-options, hesitant to risk his few chances as Digimon-ery.

That was before he saw the “Real World” setting, of course.

“Heads-up, two Digi-Eggs incoming…!”

Jenny asked “Digi-wha—?” before dual flashes of light made her yelp in surprise.

Now on the carpeted floor lay two Digi-Eggs, Pink and Purple. At least, they looked like Digi-Eggs. Each was about the size of a medium-weighted cat. That meant big enough to sit on your lap and take up space, but also small enough that it wasn’t in danger of falling out of said lap due to a wrong movement.

“Whoa, dibs on the purple one!” the apartment’s owner shouted. “Nice, my favorite color…!” she chuckled, holding up the comically large egg. “Lighter than I thought, too.”

Erica sighed “I guess I’ll take the pink one, then. That’s good too, I guess…” as she took hold of the remaining egg. “… it feels weirdly… neutral. Like, no heat or coldness.”

“Well, they’re Digimon. Digital Monsters. Not like they follow typical biological principles, being made of computer data.” Lenny noted. “Either of you have an idea what’ll make them hatch?”

Jenny gasped “These fuckers hatch!? What kinda pokey-mans bullshit have you brought into my home!? Or, apartment. Just place, place sounds better.” In response, her egg shook. “Whoa.”

“I think I have a guess…” Erica nodded, in apparent recognition, before turning her gaze towards the object in her lap. “Uh, hi there, little Digimon…? Or, Digi-Egg…? I bet you’re gonna be a… a real cool guy when you come out. Or gal. Whatever, no pressure.” she rambled, giving gentle pats and rubs to the egg’s surface. It seemed to shake appreciatively, jerking towards whichever hand was closest from within the large woman’s lap. “Hehe, kinda cute in a weird way.”

Jenny’s eyes rolled. “Ugh, gag me with a spoon.” she muttered, before sitting on the couch too. “Okay, you little shit, here’s what’s gonna happen. You’re gonna pop out, and be fuckin’ amazing, or else I’m gonna have you live with yer’ uncle Lenny. And trust me, you don’t wanna be around that wet blanket too long, he’s no fun unless you got his dick in you.” That seemed to make the egg angry, as steam began to whistle out of it inexplicably, the oversized spheroid almost jumping up in outrage. “What, you mad? Gonna do something about it? Gotta get outta that dumb egg first!” she laughed.

Lenny blinked. He was in pure disbelief. “That’s… wow.” Before his very eyes, the two Digi-Eggs were now active, maybe just about to hatch. No, the glowing that began to accompany the eggs’ activity mean they were certainly going to reveal the creature hiding within.

And with one final audible “crack”, the duo showed themselves for the first time.

What Digimon are about to hatch?
