Chapter 16 by SweptUnderfoot SweptUnderfoot

How do you respond?

Surprised, but apologetic

You cry out, splashing backwards slightly in fear and getting a gulp of water that forces up coughs. It takes you a few seconds to finally get your composure, turning around to look at the woman hovering in the water nearby, her bare breasts just breaking the surface of the water. Even when you manage to calm down, it takes some effort to tear your eyes from her tail or naked chest before finally meeting her eyes.

"H- hello... I am... very sorry for disturbing your home?" you say carefully, very aware that your breasts continue to leak down the front of your body.

"It's no worries dear, really," she says, smoothly moving from one side of you to the other, bobbing up and down slightly in the water. Someone more observant might notice that she seems to move with an odd flowing motion, not quite swimming like a fish, and that her tail didn't seem to exert much movement, but your brain has other things to focus on, and so you don't think too much about it.

"I don't mind having visitors, it's been so long since someone last came through, especially someone so... cute." Her last word changes in tone, almost imperceptibly heavier, and you practically jump again as something brushes against your leg- but looking down, it's just a piece of seaweed floating by. "Feel free to stay and clean off as long as you feel necessary."

"Th-thank you..." you mumble, visibly relaxing in the water. "So, how did you end up here? You seem... somewhat at odds to this place. So far, everything has been... much more focused on doing some pretty disgusting things to me rather than just hanging out in a lake." You can't help but blush a bit. "Also... sorry for making your water all cloudy. I can't really control this." You gestured down towards your leaking chest.

"Oh, don't apologize for your body, dear. I don't mind at all- honestly, it's just downright motherly." Again, the mermaid emphasizes the last word, but you don't think much of it, focusing on your bath. "I've been around, here and there. These watery caves extend far beyond the reaches of this dungeon, though it's certainly the place that I find my most interesting prey."

Do you react in time?
