Chapter 100

What's next?
Supergirl to the rescue
The wall exploded. The pizza guy thought this would be the end. That Bane himself was here to snap his back like a twig. Brick and plaster rained down as something—no, someone—barreled through the concrete like it was tissue paper.
'Is it Bane? Is it Killer Croc? No, it's…'
A blonde figure hovered in the wreckage, hands on her hips, cape billowing.
"S-Supergirl!"
The room fell silent. The pizza guy's jaw nearly hit the floor.
The gangsters took a step back, eyes wide with fear. Except for the leader.
"It's just a girl!" the leader snarled. "Don't buy into the fake shit! She ain't invincible! Take her down!"
The leader lunged at her, throwing a punch—and immediately regretted it. With a sickening crack, his knuckles shattered against her unmoving cheek. Supergirl barely blinked. The leader howled in pain, cradling his broken hand.
"Oh, sorry about that. That looked like it hurt."
Her eyes began to glow red.
A thin, controlled beam of heat vision shot forward, melting the guy's belt buckle clean off. His pants dropped, and he let out a very undignified yelp as he stumbled backward.
The other gangsters panicked.
"PUMP UP!" one of them yelled.
They reached into their jackets, yanking out Venom injectors and slamming them into their arms. Veins bulged, muscles swelled, and their already massive forms grew even larger.
Supergirl sighed. "Oh, boys, boys. Unless those things turn you into Doomsday, this is just sad."
The first thug lunged—only for Supergirl to flick him in the forehead. The six-foot-five, Venom-enhanced, mountain of a man was sent flying across the room, crashing into a shelf like he had been hit by a truck.
Another tried to grab her from behind.
Without even looking, she gently nudged him backward with her index finger—sending him through the door and into the hallway wall.
The pizza guy? He was on the ground, trying not to get trampled.
It was like watching a storm tear through the room.
Supergirl blitzed from one side to the other, effortlessly dodging swings, tapping people into unconsciousness, and leaving a trail of groaning bodies. Every time she moved, the air whooshed past him.
At one point, a guy was thrown clear over his head. The pizza guy pressed himself against the floor, praying he wouldn't get caught in the crossfire.
When the dust finally settled, everyone was down.
Except for her.
Supergirl landed gently, dusting off her skirt. "Whew. That was fun."
The pizza guy slowly peeked up.
All around him, huge, beefed-up, probably-murderous men were completely ****.
Supergirl turned to him and smiled. "Hey. You okay?"
His legs felt like jelly.
"Uh-huh," he managed.
Supergirl offered her hand. He took it, and—wow. Her grip was soft, but strong.
"I called the GCPD," Supergirl said. "These guys should be put away soon."
"Oh. Oh, good."
Supergirl glanced at his still-shaking legs. "Want me to take you home?"
"Uh, um…" He was not a fighter and he wasn't ashamed by getting saved by Supergirl of all people. "S-sure. Okay."
Smiling, the attractive blonde gestured him to come close. What was he supposed to grab? Her waist? Her ass? Awkwardly, he shuffled close and Supergirl coolly swept him off his feet.
"Oh!"
He was airborne.
The wind rushed past him as they soared over Gotham, the neon lights and dark rooftops stretching below.
His arms were wrapped around her neck, and—holy crap—she smelled good. Like something fresh and sweet but not overpowering. A mix of peaches and strawberries.
Also, she was soft.
And warm.
And absurdly pretty.
From this close, he could see the slight glow of her skin under the city lights, the way her blonde hair whipped in the wind, the confident curve of her lips.
Supergirl was amazing, a goddess in human flesh.
"Not too bad, right?" she asked, glancing at him.
"Yeah," he said, voice barely above a whisper.
She laughed. "Glad to hear it."
As they flew over Gotham, the pizza guy could only stare—completely in awe of the incredible, unstoppable, and ridiculously gorgeous woman carrying him through the night sky.
Second to her was the view. Gotham was somehow pretty and creepy and to a native, it was everything he had hoped. The stench was lighter with her speed so all he could experience were the lights and the architecture. Everything that made Gotham what it was.
"Wow…"
"Trust me, Metropolis is much better than this," she remarked.
"R-right."
"You disagree?" she asked, smiling.
"A-a bit. Gotham has its charm."
"And its own pride. I thought most people in Gotham hated it here."
"No, um, not me."
"So, where do you live? No need for directions, I should be able to find the address. X-ray vision," Supergirl explained.
As much as he wanted to go home, he couldn't.
Not yet.
Still being held in Supergirl's arms as they flew over Gotham, the pizza guy cleared his throat. "Oh, ah, as much as I'd love to just crash on my couch after all this, I can't."
Supergirl raised an eyebrow and they stopped. "Oh?"
"Yeah. Store policy. If an order isn't paid for, it has to be documented. Otherwise, I'm the one getting chewed out for it."
Supergirl actually laughed at that. "Wow. Gotham really doesn't mess around, huh?"
"I think it's just basic store policy…"
"Well, alright then. Back to the pizza place it is."
And with that, she adjusted her grip and veered through the night sky, heading back toward his workplace.
The flight was just as breathtaking as before, but this time, the pizza guy was more focused on her.
On the way her blonde hair shimmered under the city lights.
On the way her cape billowed behind her like something straight out of a comic book.
On the way she held him—strong but gentle, like it was the easiest thing in the world.
And she smelled amazing.
Before he knew it, they landed in front of the pizza shop.
His feet touched the pavement, and for the first time in what felt like forever, he was standing on solid ground again.
Supergirl lingered just outside the shop, her hands on her hips, waiting for him to speak.
He took a breath, still reeling from everything. "Uh… thanks. For, y'know, saving my butt back there."
Supergirl grinned. "It's what I do."
He rubbed the back of his neck. "Still. I owe you one. So if you ever need pizza, it's on the house."
Her eyes twinkled. "Oh? For free?"
"Well… if I can afford it," he admitted. "It's going to come out of my own pocket."
"Aw, don't worry about it then. I'm just happy to see you smile!"
"T-thank you…"
That made her giggle, a cute, musical sound that sent his heart racing. Although afterward, she did something… strange. Not too strange, just a bit…off. Supergirl clasped her hands behind her back, shifting slightly, her weight rocking onto her heels.
It was almost as if she was… expecting something. Almost. She probably didn't even realize it herself.
And before he could overthink it—
He just went for it. He leaned forward and pressed a kiss to her cheek. Soft. Warm. She smelled like sunshine.
Supergirl froze. She turned red. Bright red. Her eyes widened, her mouth slightly open, her entire expression caught somewhere between shock and panic.
"I—uh—wh—I mean—it's just—uh—th-this is just the job of a hero! It's nothing! No big deal! Haha!"
She was stammering.
Supergirl. Stammering.
Without another word, she shot into the sky, completely flustered—
The pizza guy, for just a split second, got a clear, accidental view of her red panties beneath her skirt.
Wow.
He stood there, staring up at the night sky.
What. A. Night.
