Sunday pt 5 Returning Home

The portal reopened at the shrine. Walt leads them home pulling Teddy off to the side. "Don't close it until I get a head count, alright?"

Senko nods tiredly. "Certainly, Walter. I was just thinking the same thing." She fingered a tear in his coat. "Your poor coat."

Walt smiled patting her head. "It's fine. Clothes don't matter so much. All I care about is everyone is safe." He sets her down gently and starts counting heads as people dismount and climb out of the large SUV. On the way there they'd had fun laughing and singing the commercial song... but nobody was singing now. They were tired and dirty.

Walt could sympathize. Actually it had gone better than he'd expected it too but it had certainly been-

"Well," said Sasha stretching. "That was... eventful?"

Everyone nodded. Walt finished his head count, twice, and nodded. Senko closed the portal. She looked tired. He climbed down and ruffled her hair kissing the top of her head. "You were excellent. Thank you for everything. Go on and rest up the rest of tonight."

She smiled happily and kissed his cheek. "Thank you, Walter. I think I'll take you up on that!" She closed the gate and head off to rest up.

"Aye!" said Merida. "Ye weren't kidding aboot yer luck bein' as ill Seumas is! Whit a jobby shaw! 'Tis a wonder th' hail thing wasn't worse than 'twas!"

Everyone else blinked at her in confusion but Walt understood and nodded at their their newest addition. "Aye, lass, Ye'r nae wrong aboot that. Tae tell ye th' truth ah wis expecting far worse. Sorry fur getting ye mixter maxter oan oor misfortunes. Guid tae ken ye kin handle yersel' oan a rammy though! Glad ye hud oor backs thare 'n' glad tae hae ye 'ere. Fàilte dhachaigh!"

Merida smiled and nodded. It had been a good scrap and she'd enjoyed it. She breathed deeply of the mountain air and found she quite liked it. James had been right. This place and these folks would suit her just fine! "Ta! tis guid tae be 'ere!"

Walt smiled. He looked at the basket she'd been presented to him in then looked at Penny. "You didn't return the basket?"

She shook her head smiling. "I thought I'd fill it with cookies first!"

Walt smiled. That was just like Penny. "Here, Let me get it." He picks up the basket but frowned. It was heavier than expected.

Penny tilted her head. "Something wrong?" She asked as walt opened up the basket.

Walt looked inside and sighed shaking his head. He reached in and gently shook the sleeping young lady.

"Hmmm?" Yunyun bleary-eyed blinked looking up. "What's going on?"

"Friday," Walt said. "Inform Jimbo we've got one of his and we'll look after her tonight and send her home tomorrow, for me?"

((Certainly, Walter."))

Yunyun blinked. "Uhm... I remember you from the wedding... "Uncle Hiss" or something?"

Walt chuckled shaking his head. "That's "Hoss" but it's just a nickname." He shook her hand and helped her stand up. "My name's Walter but just call me Walt, alright...?"

"Yunyun," she said smiling but then looked around her eyes wide. "Uh, where am I Walt?"

Walt smiled. "Sorry. Small mixup. You're at our home... and I just gave our resident spatial expert/goddess the night off. You'll be our honored guest tonight though and I'll see that your safely returned home tomorrow! Is that alright, Yunyun?"

Yunyun blinks in surprise. "Really?! Me? An honored guest?"

Walt smiled nodding along with most of the others. "Of course!" Penny said. "Let's be friends Yunyun!"

Walt was surprised as the young lady started to cry. He started patting her back saying, "Whoa there, Lass. We're sorry. You don't have to-"

"Yes please!" Yunyun said. "I would like that very much! T-thank you for being my friends!"

Walt smiled and so did most of the others. They all took turns introducing themselves to her.

Walt smiled and clapped his hands. "Alright everyone. I know we had, as Sasha said, an "eventful" day and want to unwind and clean up but let's do everything properly. Weapons, ammo and gear check with KL-E-O. Meanwhile barn crew you're with Sasha and I. Let's get the horses seen too. I'll join you as soon as I return the Canyonero."

Sasha nodded taking Teddy's reins, "Sure Walt. We'll see you in a bit. Come on ladies!" She started to lead the others with the hirses towards the barn.

Walt looked at the remaing non-combatants and unarmed specialists. "Can you all take care of Yunyun and Merida and get them settled in for me?"

They smiled and nodded but hesitated. "We can try, Master but..." Lita said.

Walt raised his eyebrow. "Problem?"

Ahnassi sighed. "Walter is the only one who understands what the newcomer is saying, yes?"

Merida huffed. "'N' whit's that suppose tae mean? Tis nae lik' a'm speaking some foreign leid or something streenge or anythin' lik' that! Tis juist plain speech, ye ken! Plain as th' hooter oan yer coupon, aye?"

Walt saw the others nodding their understanding but halfway through stop and then shake their heads. She'd lost them again. Walt tried not to laugh. Apparently the others couldn't figure out half of what Merida was saying. "Understood. I'll show her around and get her settled in." They smiled and Walt looked at Merida. "Does that wirk fur ye, lassie? Care tae gimme a haun wi' th' chores 'n' horses 'n' then git settled in? Mibbie tak' th' tour?"

Merida smiled happily. "Aye! Ah loue horses! A'm a fair haun at thaim masell. Shaw me tae yer stables guid sur!"

The others watched as Walt offered her his arm and then opened the passenger door for her before climbing into the drivers side of the SUV and heading for the garage then then, presumably, the stables chatting away happily.

"Uhm, what did they say?" Yunyun asked.

The others shook their heads. "We have no idea..." Kali said.

"Let's go find you a place to sleep for tonight," Raven said.

"And a change of clothes," Haruna added. "I think Senko was heading to the hotsprings. I think that's just what we all need!"

Everyone nodded. That was a great idea!
