Chapter 31 by jj0445 jj0445

What's next?

Sunday Morning

Sunday morning arrives slowly. Soft gray sunlight spills through the balcony curtains while distant waves roll steadily somewhere beyond the windows, leaving the entire beach house quiet and warm around you beneath the blankets.

Jane stays curled tightly against your chest with one leg tangled lazily with yours while both of her arms remain wrapped around your waist like she fell asleep halfway through trying to keep you from moving away. Her hair is completely messy, the oversized hoodie she stole from you yesterday twisted slightly from sleeping in it, and every little sleepy movement somehow pulls her even closer against you.

Eventually Jane stirs softly against your chest before letting out a quiet groan and burying her face farther into your neck.

“Good Morning,” Jane murmurs sleepily.

You smile immediately while brushing your fingers slowly through her hair. “Morning,” you say softly.

Jane barely opens her eyes before groaning again. “No,” she mumbles dramatically.

You laugh quietly. “No what?” you ask.

“It’s too early,” Jane complains softly.

“You know it’s almost eleven, right?” you ask.

“You’re lying,” Jane replies immediately.

You grin while pushing a few messy strands of hair away from her face. “You gotme.”

Jane narrows her eyes suspiciously at you before tightening her arms around your waist again. “Why would you betray me like this?” she asks quietly.

“How did you know that,” you tease.

“I always do,” Jane murmurs dramatically.

For a little while neither of you says much. The room stays quiet except for the ocean outside and the occasional rustle of blankets whenever Jane shifts comfortably against you. Eventually she tilts her head upward slightly until her chin rests near yours while her fingers trace lazy circles against your chest beneath the blankets.

“You’re comfy,” Jane murmurs softly.

“That’s a weird compliment,” you reply.

“I mean it,” she says seriously.

You laugh quietly while Jane smiles sleepily against you before leaning forward enough to kiss you softly. The kiss starts slow and lazy, still tangled up in sleep and warmth while sunlight spills gently across the bed around both of you. You kiss her back while one of your hands settles carefully against her waist beneath the oversized hoodie, pulling her a little closer against you.

Jane moans softly into the kiss before kissing you again more slowly this time, lingering against your lips while her fingers slide into your hair. The warmth between both of you builds naturally after that without either of you really thinking about it. Nothing rushed. Nothing overwhelming. Just quiet affection and sleepy tension beneath tangled blankets while the beach house stays peaceful around you.

“You know,” Jane murmurs softly against your lips afterward, “I think we should stay in bed all day.”

“That sound good to me,” you admit quietly.

“Mhm,” Jane replies before kissing you again.

This time she shifts partly over you beneath the blankets while her hand slides slowly along your chest and her kisses grow warmer, more deliberate now that she’s fully awake. Your hands settle naturally against her hips while she moves to straddle your lap with another soft moan, her messy hair falling around both of your faces while the ocean continues rolling quietly outside.

At one point Jane pulls back just enough to grin down at you.

“You’re very easy,” Jane teases softly.

“You started this,” you reply.

“Mhm,” she says proudly before kissing you again anyway.

The quiet morning stretches comfortably around both of you while kisses blur together with sleepy laughter and warm touches beneath the blankets. Eventually though, Jane finally collapses dramatically against your chest again with a quiet sigh.

“Okay,” Jane breathes softly. “If we keep doing that, neither of us is leaving this bed today.”

“That sounds like a threat,” you tease.

“It’s a promise,” she replies sleepily.

You laugh quietly while your fingers drift slowly through her hair again. For another minute she just stays there listening to your heartbeat while sunlight brightens the room around both of you.

Then suddenly her stomach growls loudly enough for both of you to hear it.

Jane immediately groans into your chest. “Oh my god,” she mutters.

You start laughing instantly. “Wow,” you tease softly. “Someones hungry.”

“I’m pretending that didn’t happen,” Jane replies with dignity.

“I don’t think your stomach agrees,” you say.

Jane lifts her head enough to narrow her eyes at you again. “Rude.”

“You almost tackled me five minutes ago,” you point out.

“That’s different.”

“How?”

“I’m a girl,” Jane replies confidently.

You shake your head while she curls comfortably against you again before glancing toward her phone sitting on the nightstand.

“Okay,” Jane says softly. “Important question.”

“Mhm?” you ask.

“Do we order breakfast and stay in,” she asks while tracing little circles against your chest again, “or do we actually get dressed and go somewhere for brunch?”
