Chapter 262 by [KingDucky] [KingDucky]

What's next?

Summit

Okay... you may have overshot somewhat. "AHHHH!!!"

The cry that left your jaws was not one of excitement or joy, but fear as you flew past the hammer-head summit of the Medcore building.

The clouds and stars were inches away, momentum didn't seem to want to let up. at this rate, you'd be falling 100,000 feet to your doom after a nice view.

Stop panicking at the smallest mistake, just calm down, listen to me, and we'll fix it.

Easy for him to say, He wasn't about to have his ass paint the 3000 dollar suit of every pompous prick in the greys.

"WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN, DON'T PANIC? WE ARE MINCEMEAT IF WE DON'T DO SOMETHING!"

The Blackness inside took form in your mind, the black figure looking on with determined red eyes.

There are two types of people in this world, Kid, the kind that waits, and the kind that act. Now you can continue to ignore me and turn into a sexy plate of mush, or, you can stop overthinking and focus... We're impulsive, we like IT that way, under pressure is how we perform. So make your fucking choice, Cur**, **acționa sau mori? (Act or Die)

This thing, in your head, sometimes it felt like it was smarter than you were... then again if the Rabbit's teachings were anything to go by Vlad was just as much you and _You _were.

Closing your eyes, You did your best to ignore the coming night sky, relaxing with Overdrive wasn't exactly easy, but if letting go was the key, listening to the path set forth inside to survive, then what more could be done? Your breath slowed, and your mind relaxed.

Atta boy.

Goodness gracious great balls of fire, grasping at the infinity inside... sometimes, that's just what the Doctor Ordered.

Grasping at the core of your being, you saw darkness, a darkness that kissed your panic away and wrapped you in a warm embrace; certainty came in abundance... but this was... different, You felt calculated but in a far different way, it was difficult to describe, almost like... You could explode at any moment.

Before you could burst through the clouds, the sharp point of your fang slid across the surface of your thumb, splitting the skin, allowing the blood to flow freely.

You were like a man possessed in a cold blaze, casting your thumb to the heavens and while soaring rapidly, painted a symbol into the air. The Blood burned into condensation above, and furthermore... "Dragon's breath: Azure inferno."

It was no more than a few drops of blood and an insidious whisper, but what was born of it, was beyond anything you believed yourself capable of.

From the glowing symbol, came embers, smouldering with wrathful heat which burst from its heart in a furious blue flame. This explosion of heat swallowed the sky and attacked the clouds, spiralling in a battle of hot and cold, the rain halting at its command as a legion of pressure pushed you violently back down to the confines of the earth.

Just as quickly as you ascended, di you descend towards that hammer like a bullet, faster even, still as the sky burned blue, not an inch of fear crossed into your heart, not with Vlad by your side.

The bones began to fade, the flesh became loose and free, your body dissipating into the rainless air, and where flesh might have been crushed into the High perch of the Medcore roof, Your colossal ghostly form only splashed against the huge space, spreading wide and far in all directions in a moment of pure peace.

You gathered your arms first, then your legs, pulling them back swiftly, your torso then... your head, and in one firece snap!

You rematerialized, knelt on top of the Medcore building, listening to the peace and quiet of this high above place... that is until, the rain started again, the clouds flooding into the huge hole you'd created in the stratosphere, the gentle drops patting against the material of your hood.

And that is why we are badasses.

You arose, smiling slightly, looking at your hands, feeling the darkness within.

"Thank you... I'm sorry, for doubting you."

You can't doubt me, Charlie... only yourself.

Arising, you peered around and listened, Your family must have been yet to reach the Summit... just how long did that take? minutes? seconds?

God, so this is what it truly felt like to have power, it scared you a little, but at the same time, it was intoxicating.

....Did it smell like... wet dog? the rain dampened your sense of smell but...

Turning, you raised an eyebrow, looking through the droplets on your glasses. Was that... a Wolf? over by the north edge, just behind one of the tall electrical boxes by the fire exit that would doubtlessly lead to a staircase.

Only its head poked out, a huge, ominously still thing, this shaggy fur of mahogany brown and deep bloody crimson. Its eyes were... creepy, huge and watching, the iris a spiralling yellow mixed with ivory. The Pupils seemed to glow in the dark, flickering between pitch black and a fluorescent white.

You weren't entirely sure what to think, moving left, then right, then left again, blinking your eyes and then taking off your glasses to rub the uncertainty from them.

But no, it remained, it was real.

Jesus, the size of its head, it had to be... 70? 80 pounds? more? how did it even get up here?

"Uh, hey... nice doggy?" You were understandably confused... but not as confused as you would be.

"Yo sup, cool trick with the misting."

............................................................

...............................................................................

Oh no...

Your jaw touched fucking floor.... the Wolf, just opened its mouth and spoke... in English...

"Anyway, I'll see you later, Bye." The Wolf spoke lightheartedly, its massive head disappearing behind the electrical box as if it were never there.

Bursting into an inhuman sprint, Overdrive drew you around the back of that electrical box in less than a second, but there was no wolf to be found, only... a scratching, in the side of the box as it rent by inhuman claws.

"Wolves will play when the dog's away?" You read, what the hell was that supposed to mean-

"Whooooooooooooooooo!" Dawn flew up from the Building's side, soaring through the air elegantly, as she rolled to the ground. Shuck and Rabbit followed closely after, moving towards you, Dawn shaking off in exhilaration, her elders less so, this definitely wasn't their first rodeo.

"Boy."

"Ah!" Your back pressed against the words carved into the box as Pops appeared beside you.

His head tilted "You okay? mmm, I was certain you'd overshoot that?" Right as per usual.

"Yeah, just dandy, you?" very subtle Drake, very subtle.

Artorias was a kind man, well-mannered and friendly, but shuck was an eyeless beast, a waster of little time "As soon as you're done obviously hiding something for me, feel free to join us." He turned, but you just couldn't keep that curiosity wrapped up tight enough.

"Granpa... How many types of Monster are there?" You asked curiously.

The fury of his black helm turned and through the opening of his iron jaws, the Mad-dog smiled "Enough to keep your eyes open, to hold a blade close at your side... and a woman's warmth close at hand."

How many of these beasts would you have to hunt? have to kill? how many hours would you have to **** over books, would true mastery ever come? Still, the Hound seemed more than satisfied with your progress, waving you over to your family by the edge. "Come, boy, we're almost done here."

The Mad-dog joined Dawn and the Rabbit in looking over the city, but Your mind raced with a rampant curiosity, looking at the Old Man with knowing eyes "Wolves will play when the dog's away." Whatever that thing was (though you had an idea) it feared the Mad-Dog... you had a feeling that this would pop back up again soon, these things always did, for now, it was important to focus on the task at hand.
