Chapter 8 by TheInfiniteDragon

How should Marty tackle the building?

Suck it to the Left

Marty made his way back around the building. He had to go the longer route as the quickest way was too heavily exposed, but eventually he arrived at the locked door against the left side of the facility. Below was a grate with a small silver key resting at the bottom. The space between the metal cover and the bottom wasn’t very long, and Marty figured that his straw was enough to bridge the gap.

He got on all fours and pulled out his straw; he remembered that he got the straw at a happy hour he once attended with his old roommates. He couldn’t remember exactly why he had chosen to keep it, but he just had a feeling that he might need it one day. He guided the straw through the metal bars so it touched the cold metal of the key, then with a deep breath he sucked up the air space between the straw and the key as they latched on to each other.

He guided the small item out of the dirty place and through the bars, maintaining his deep breath the whole time. He finally let it go when the key hovered over his hand, letting it drop in victory. Marty wasted no time in standing up and gently pressed the key in the lock; it fit! Then he twisting it slowly until he heard an unlocking sound, he opened the door a crack and peered through, seeing no one about.

The room was mostly empty entirely, clearly just a spot to keep a backup fire exit in the worst case outcome, but one thing that was in the room was a large elevator. As Marty approached it, he suddenly heard loud footsteps making their approach, and the loud chatter of presumably guards. Knowing he’d only be back at square one if he went back through the exit, he chose to take a chance and jump in the elevator and press the first button he saw; the top floor.

Made it to the Top!
