Study the Watch More Closely

I stepped out of the door of the shop and looked down at the watch in light of day. It had the large button on top that stops and starts it like any stopwatch would, then there was a green button to the left at 9 o'clock, a red button to the right at 3 o'clock and a black button on the bottom at 6 o'clock. I realized I had no idea how to work this thing and I turned around to head back to ask the man inside the shop if there were instructions it came with. I almost ran smack into the wall. There was no door! I had just come out of a door and now there was only a wall.

Puzzled, I headed back to my car parked a little way up the street and once I was sitting inside, I looked at the watch more closely. I pushed the green button nothing happened, I pushed the red button, and nothing happened. Then I pushed the large button on top and suddenly silence enveloped me. I looked up and found the world had stopped. No movement, no sound. It was like I was between seconds.

I pushed the large button again and everything started again in all its sounds and movement. Then I pushed the black button and was rewarded with a recording and a hologram popping up. It was the old man from the store.

He said, "Welcome to the stop time dimension. This button is the instruction manual so I'm glad you figured that out. Hopefully before something bad happened. Go out on the street and when you are ready stop time by pushing the large button the top."

I stepped back out on the curb and hit the button freezing everyone and everything around me.

You did not really freeze them, you moved to a different dimension. You can touch anyone, move anything within your strength, and no one will see you. You will not show up on security or police cameras, and you will not leave DNA behind, hair, skin cells, other stuff. However, you will be on the recording before you freeze and after so consider if you want to be in the area when you start something.”

My mind was already racing with possibilities when he said, “Now for the green button.”
