Student Government

Bianca was organized and had everything planned out. Unlike student activities who had to plan multiple events, SG only sponsored a few and was more focused on how they would divide up the funding they got. Makayla felt overwhelmed. As treasurer it was her job to keep track of all expenditures. But, she was also supposed to get help from the secretary of SG, who was also a part of the freshman orientation crew, and was working with them the next few days. Brian had only joined SG because of Bianca, but he was well organized. His role as VP was to run the meetings, his unofficial role was to lighten the mood when Bianca got too stressed.

As the meeting wrapped up Makayla approached Dr. Pittman.

"I've been getting a head start of the research paper for your class next semester, and I was wondering if you could take a look at it and give me some feedback?" she inquired.

"Sure, I'm a little beat after the travel today, why don't you bring it by tomorrow night after everything wraps up?" he responded

Bianca and Brian were chatting as well.

"I just want to go to my room and get some work done, do you mind keeping an eye on the other cabin tonight?" Bianca asked.

"No problem Bi, I'd already planned on it," he replied.

"Thanks, Bri," Bianca smiled, her hand on his shoulder maybe a little too long.

Brian approached Makayla as she was gathering her stuff.

"You going to head down to the cabin, or...?"

"No," she blushed a little, "I'll probably just stay in."

"I understand," he replied, "and thank you for taking on the extra work these first few days, trust me, it only gets easier from here. Tell Alex I said hi," he grinned, letting her know he knew exactly what her plans were.

Makayla appreciated that Brian had encouraged her so much since she'd been elected Treasurer. She knew that he and Alex were friends, once they had been closer, but now there was an awkwardness between them. She also knew the cause of that awkwardness, and she would be arriving in a few days.
