Chapter 15 by Wulfblade Wulfblade

Give her a hand?

Strip a nearby elf scout to distract the crowd

You weigh whether to interfere, and allow the knight the chance to escape before her situation gets even worse. You look about, eyes searching for a suitable victim in order to distract the mob's attention.

Wait, what's that lurking at the back edge of the crowd? A tall, cowled figure, lips upturned in an arrogant sneer. From the looks of it, she appears to be an elf, and when you zip in to get closer you confirm it by spotting her pointed ears underneath the cowl. She's tall and slender, her face reflecting an ancestral arrogance, and her eyes are piercing, even when not focussed on you. She's dyed her characteristic silver elven hair a deep blue with streaks of purple. Pft, who does she think she is: a protagonist?! You deduce she must be a ranger of sorts, or a scout maybe, judging by her light armor and armaments, although you're more interested in some of her other 'armaments'. Lawless elven bands of raiders often travel through the woods in these lands, unencumbered by political borders or allegiances, and she might be here to scout out the town before a common nightraid to steal horses and supplies. You should probably dissuade her from returning to this town, and figure you can hit two birds with one stone by picking her as the new victim for the mob.

She's wearing light leather armour, strapped in like a corset at her back. Underneath she's wearing pants and a tunic, tied up with an ornamental belt holding a set of knives. These garments do not consist of single pieces of fabric, but instead are made up of a multitude of seperate pieces, each of them shaped like a leaf and sewn together with some kind of thick thread. The effect is very peculiar, as if you're peering at a forest.

It takes you a bit of time, but time is relative, and moving and thinking at the speed of light means you could in practice spend days but still be perceived as the blink of an eye to anyone else. You first remove her armour of course, undoing the ropes at the back and dropping it down at her feet. Then you take off the belt, it's going to get in the way. Next comes the harder bit: you meticulously start removing all the threads keeping the individual pieces together. Thankfully you're a professional thief, so your fingers are used to dextrous work like this.

Finally you're done, after working your way across her body. You might have missed one or two threads, but you're pretty certain you got nearly all of them. Once the instant has passed her outfit ought to collapse, falling apart like a pile of leaves. Getting publicly exposed that way should probably encourage her to not return here, and she will either need to return to her band naked or spend at least a day re-sewing her clothes to avoid such a humiliating homecoming.

There! You're helping out a knight in a precarious situation, providing entertainment for the people, possibly preventing a night raid by elves, and having some fun into the bargain. Noone can deny you're efficient.

Time to let time resume
