Chapter 21 by TMJ2008 TMJ2008

You have one chance to strike a decisive blow now that the golem is distracted and damaged. What do you do?

Strike with the gauntlet's power!

The stone golem is staggered and stunned, fine earth and sand spilling from the hole you tore open in it as though it were its blood spilling out. It is weakened and you feel the dark urges of the Entity within the gauntlet gnashing its jaws at the show of such weakness. Like a predator seeking out the kill, the gauntlet seems to vibrate with bloodlust and dark power. It sparks with the power and malevolent desires within and you cannot curb those feelings being mirrored within yourself as you flex your metal-encased hand in anticipation.

With the desire to destroy your enemy and bring it low before you raging in your heart, you strike out, thrusting your gauntleted hand into the hole with your hand held flat so that the pointed tips of the gauntlet's fingers pierce the soft earth as though they were the points of a dagger. Your hand sluices through the soft earth and fine sand easily as neither is as solid as the stone that had been holding it back and you find yourself buried up to your elbow in the golem...and that's when you realize your mistake.

Unlike a flesh and blood creature, the golem is earth and stone. It has no soft and **** internal organs to pierce and damage with pure physical **** as another being would. Striking into the open "wound" would have been a deathblow for a creature of flesh and blood, but, for a being made up of rock and sand, your blow was as ineffective as it would have been if you'd struck with a feather. And, moreover, your mistake was twofold as you had just trapped yourself within the golem's range and in it's grasp as you find you cannot pull your arm back from within the soft earth of the creature's interior no matter how much you try.

You see angry red sparks shoot out from within the shifting dirt as the magic and partly-sentient fury of the gauntlet is piqued, but you can do nothing as you are slowly pulled forward and deeper in the dirt you had buried your arm in. You realize, with horror, that the golem is seeking to drag you into itself, burying you in the dirt and stone of its insides. You feel your heart beating frantically and your breathing coming more quickly and with panic as you try to free yourself, but to no avail.

Soon you are buried up to your shoulder and then your head is taken into the soft earth as well, blinding you and filling your mouth with sand and grit as you try to breathe. You **** on the warm dirt as you are dragged into the golem's body, the earth of its insides closing in around you and suffocating you. You can see and hear nothing save for the dirt and stone shifting around you and, soon enough, you can feel nothing as well as you run out of breath in your walking grave, falling into darkness with the taste of dirt in your mouth and grit of sand clogged in your nose. And there you will remain, rotting away inside the golem's insides until some other adventurer or monster defeats the stone creature. And, when they do, they will find only the dirty bones of what had once been a young ex-knight with the dark Artifact still connected to a skeletal arm, a grim reminder that even ancient power such as that which it possesses is not infallible.

Steel and fury can't really do much damage to sand and dirt, can it? Bad End.
