Chapter 3
by Murakami
What Happened?
Stranger Awakening
Eli opened his eyes to the sight of the attic ceiling above him. Light was streaming in through the multicolored stained glass window, which was decidedly full height again, and not just an ornament over a no-longer present door. The concrete box next to the window was gone too. He let out a deep breath and rubbed his face, feeling exhausted and confused. He lay there trying to get his bearings for a moment, but nothing he recalled made sense. Had he been working to hard and just collapsed in the attic? He sat up, again rubbing his eyes.
"Hello, My Lord," said a quiet voice came from the corner of the room.
Eli spun around to look in the direction of the voice, but he was still dizzy and reached out to steady himself, but being in the middle of the room found himself falling. He found himself being caught by someone. Whoever it was gave cute giggle.
"I have you My Lord, don't worry," the voice said again. The woman helped him down to the floor. A few blinks and Eli finally got a look at her, and could only stare.
She was more beautiful than any woman he had ever seen, or even imagined, definitely no older than him, with curly red hair down to the middle of her back. Her bright green eyes looked directly into his, full lips smiling under a cute button nose. She was impossibly proportioned, with huge but gravity defying and absolutely perfect breasts held in a diaphanous wrap, somehow fully concealing and revealing at once, her midriff bare and tight, hips wide, an odd half dress around her waist, open in the front but trailing the back, bunched up around her long, bare, muscled legs as she knelt before him. The wrap put some type of thong bikini on display, the fabric stretched tight, revealing a hint of her mons.
Eli realized he was staring. "I'm sorry, I'm sorry," he said, pulling his eyes back to her perfect face. "I'm Eli. Who are you?"
"I am whomever you wish me to be, My Lord," she replied. "Does my appearance please you? I have taken the form of your ideal woman. Is there any thing I should change?" she asked, looking pensive.
"I'm sorry, what?" Eli replied in confusion, getting to his feet. The woman stood up, revealing her odd dress went to just about her knees. She had on some sandals Eli couldn't identify. "Who are you? What are you doing here?"
"I'm sorry I have not been clear," she said. "I am your servant, My Lord. You passed the tests and now I am yours forever," she said, effecting a short bow.
"What are you talking about?" Eli said again. "Who are you and how did you get in here?" He quickly eyed her again, the outfit was even sexier with her standing. She saw him looking and rather than being offender posses a little to give him a better look. "Why are you dressed like that?"
"I am sorry for your confusion My Lord. You are clearly not of the wdekjfghasdlfgkhal, so you must not know what you have done," she said. "The test was placed here for them, but none ever passed."
"The what?" Eli replied; it had sounded like a bunch of random letters to him.
"Your vocal structure is different; I cannot seem to properly render that name with this mouth," she replied, raising one hand under her chin. "You were tested: did you have the curiosity, did you have the will, did you have the Odo, did you have the intelligence. You passed and so I was finally born."
"Umm... I have no idea what you are talking about. Are you ok?" Eli replied. Was she a mental patient.
"I understand you are confused," she replied. She held out an arm. "Please watch." Her arm blurred for a second, then seemed to unravel, becoming pink smoke emanating from her elbow, but not dispersing. After a minute of Eli's shocked stare, the smoke coalesced back into an arm.
"What? How?" Eli blubbered. She giggled again at his discomfiture, and Eli couldn't help thinking it was a sound he wanted to hear all the time.
"My Lord, I am not wholly human, although thanks to you I am mostly," she replied. Eli felt a cold chill in his head for second. "The closet description I can find for what I am in your head is a 'Genie', though this is not terribly accurate."
"A Genie?" Elit repeated flatly. "A wish granting made of smoke genie..."
"Yes my Lord," She replied. "Sort of. As I said, it is a poor analogy but conveys something of my nature."
Eli sat down again, hard. "Ok, I am having a mental breakdown of some kind. You aren't real, none of this is real, I must be laying on the floor all catatonic waiting for someone to find me." The woman reached across a slapped him in face. "OW WHAT THE!!!"
"I am sorry, but you were... spiraling, I believe is the word," she explained, looking contrite. "I am very real, and this is happening. Here, feel me," she added, grabbing a hand and placing it on her breast. Eli enjoyed the firmness for second, then freaked out and pulled it back. "Oh My Lord, I am here for you. You need not be concerned. You may touch me however you like.
"I uhhh... Uhhhh," Eli replied, speechless. It certainly felt real.
"I am sorry again," she said. "Clearly, you are in need a a more proper explanation. The test has been here since before your kind existed, waiting for someone to pass. As things were built here, the test adapted to the surroundings. The first test was curiosity: You saw something strange and were not frightened. The second test was will: You had to maintain absolute concentration and complete a task even while every fiber of your being told you to stop. The third test was Odo: did you have the needed energy to allow me to exist... the word 'mana' is the closet I can find to this idea. The last was intelligence: could you overcome distraction and see that the puzzle pieces fit together. In passing all of these, I was at last given form, and for passing them you are now My Lord. I exist for you, to help you."
