Straight ahead ('The right tunnel' choice from chapter 8)

You lead the Elf down the winding tunnels and into a smallish room, you were starting to get real sick of the same old slimy and damp tunnels, and you hadn't even been here a day! You can't imagine how Daisy must feel. The room the two of you had now entered was completely vacant of interest besides the pitch black obelisk at its center, the luminous mushroom lined walls shining off of the human sized structures glossy surface.

The Elfs eyes light up at the sight of the obelisk, she hurries towards it and traces her fingers over the text indented into the object, her face shone with excitement. You stare at her inquisitively, the language is completely alien to you, it's like a mixture of Egyptian hieroglyphs and Chinese mandarin, after a short while of her prodding the words and checking each cardinal point of the structure she looks back to you, feeling she might owe you an explanation.

"This is the ancient language of the Darkin!" She almost startles you with her eagerness. "Old sages of that race left these things inside dungeons the world over, their purpose is long forgotten but their rubbings are highly sought after by scientists, historians and..." She paused, looking solemn for second or two. "archaeologists, like my brother." Mentioning her brother you notice her mood drop, clearly this was a touchy subject.

"The only reason I'm down here is because my brother hasn't returned home yet, he's not an adventurer like me but when he heard rumors of a room opening up inside this dungeon revealing one of the extremely rare Darkin Obelisks he was immovable in his conviction to come down here himself. He didn't even wait for me to come with him in case someone beat him to it. Idiot." She cursed him at the end there, trailing away into thought.

You never had siblings of your own so you weren't sure you could relate, and you were less than fond of your family. Unconditional love just wasn't in your lot in life, you kind of envied her brother because of that, looking back up at Daisy her visage had returned back to her perky self.

"Well when we find him, he'll be glad to know what this stupid thing says, lets see here, my ancient Darkin is very rusty but if my teachers taught me well enough, it says 'In fine autem exolvuntur', or in the common tongue it would translate to 'At the end of the cycle'. Huh, what a bizarre thing to leave on a stone pillar, it almost sounds like the beginning of a prophecy, right?" She chuckles to herself, turning to leave you follow her back to the fork in the road that you'd came from.
