Stop the succubus and close the demonic gate.

"Guards!" You call out to your royal guards. "If you are not protecting Vessa and the mages, then form up on me! We're going to keep the succubus occupied, until the mages can close the gateway!"

"By your will!" The royal guards respond. "We will protect you with our lives!"

You watch as a good portion of Cielina's fellow Amazons assist with the elite troops from your regular army, whittle down the archdemon that has already emerged, and do their best to push the demons back to the gateway. As you close in on the succubus, you watch as a few of the other Amazon women ahead of Cielina herself rush to engage the succubus. Cielina moves to a spot behind the succubus, now with the flamberge sword in hand, and waits for an opening. One Amazon gets knocked back by a buffet of the wings, while another is grabbed by the throat. You order your royal guards to break the woman free, only for them to get knocked back by the succubus, when she hurls that woman at them. She now faces you, as you move into a defensive stance. Even with your tired, battered body, you evade the cracks of her whip, as best as you can, giving Cielina a chance to strike at the succubus. You see her strike home a few times, slicing through one wing, then a hip, and then hamstringing her with a slash to the back of a leg.

Hissing, the succubus knocks Cielina back with the buffet of her good wing, Turning around, she cracks her whip, trying to rip Cielina apart. You close in, as Cielina scrambles to evade the attacks, and attack, where you can. You get in a few good strikes of your own, cutting through the skin and muscle of her main arm, then roll it with a slash through her other hip, and a cut through the other wing. The succubus hisses again, the jolt of pain in the main arm forcing her to drop the whip. You move to one flank, cutting through the other leg, forcing her onto her knees.

The hisses from the succubus now gets the archdemon's attention, and he now turns to charge after you and Cielina. As it readies its battle axe--coated with the blood of the soldiers he has already slain--you feel the jolt of a barrage of magic. You feel the demonic gateway destabilize, before it obliterates. The blast of energy knocks you back, as well as everyone else within a certain distance. As you scramble to get back on your feet, you see a cloudburst form, bringing a surge of heavy rain. It brings a chill to all of the demons that remain, weakening them significantly. The few Amazon shamans that remain add a burst of healing power to the rains, revitalizing you and every other non-demon folk. As you grab your sword, you see Cielina engage the archdemon, while you carefully move to finish off the succubus. Your eyes take in how fluid her movement is, and how precise her attacks are, as she strikes down and finish off the archdemon. Then you turn you attention to the succubus, as she hisses at you.

"You may have won this battle, mortal," the gray-skinned succubus tells you, "but we will be back in a few hundred years, to wreak chaos on your kind, and especially your bloodlines!"

"My legacy will be ready." You tell the succubus, before you thrust your sword through the succubus' chest, right through its black heart.

After you pull the sword out, you take a step back, watching the slain succubus, and all of the demons, burn away. However, it has come at a terrible price. The aid of healing magic may have helped preserve some lives, but it did not prevent the loss of many of your soldiers, as well as that of Cielina's Amazon women. As you hear Sir Garrett call out to you, the worst fears have come true. Not only are the two Phebis princes are dead, but when you reach Sir Garrett, you find the body of the slain Phebis King! It is clear that the raid by the Amazons, compounded by the actions of the succubi, have essentially put Phebis in great danger. You know that the Phebis people are not very tolerant of having a woman rule their tiny domain. Now all that is left in their royal family, is their aging queen, and a daughter in her early teens. So as all the survivors sort out the body count, you walk back to Cielina. You can see her fighting back the tears, from the loss of so many of her sisters, as well as her lifemate, Maricara. When she sees you, she walks over to you, and gives you a big hug, before she buries her face in your shoulders, letting out a good, long cry.
