Chapter 3
by AbsoluteZero
Does she stick with the guys or does she go it alone?
Stick with 'em
Suzy may have acted annoyed by her friends, but she still considered them friends. She wasn't about to abandon them for some pictures. If someone wasn't brave enough to request a photo, then perhaps they didn't really want it anyways.
"Sorry, Gavin. You know I'm sticking with you guys. I'm just so excited!" Suzy spun a little on her heel to show just how happy she was to be at the convention. Her costume felt great and she felt super excited to get things ready.
Jake rolled his eyes before walking ahead of her. The guy was a douche and did whatever he wanted, which was his right as an adult, but man... It really got on Suzy's nerves sometimes. He may have been "cute" in a sense, but that didn't give him the right to judge her for liking the same things he did. While she was a little over five feet, Jake towered over her at a whopping six feet and four inches. Though he was tall, that was were most of his weight was. He was very lithe and skinny with a little tone definition, but not much. He blamed his metabolism for that. And while she was dark haired, he had shaggy blonde hair with hazel eyes. Today, however, he had styled his hair to look a little more... professional? Probably to have girls believe that he actually worked where he worked.
Jake's parents owned their own business and while he wasn't certified yet, he was training to become their new accountant. In turn, they were putting him through school but only if he got the degree and worked for them. If he strayed, he'd have to pay back every dime they spent on him for college. And honestly, Suzy felt bad for him for that. At least least until he opened his mouth to brag.
Gavin was also cute, but not in the traditional sense. He was taller than her, but only at a five feet and ten inches. He was also a little stockier than Jake with his broad shoulders and wide hips. Many people that liked his UserTube review channel said he had a "Dad Bod" but he pulled it off. His black hair was cut short and he had soft, brown eyes. While Jake was the aggressive one in the friendship, Gavin was the passive one. He avoided conflict at all costs and tried to mediate any that he felt somewhat responsible for. Which was almost all of them. He still lived with his parents too, but only because he was trying to get them to stop fighting and to go to couple's therapy. She thought it sweet, but also vocalized that he could do that from an apartment too.
If Gavin hadn't been there, though, Suzy was convinced that her and Jake would have murdered each other already. So she didn't criticize his life choices if they weren't actually hurting anyone.
"You could wait, asshole. We have the entire day, after all." Suzy pushed ahead to get past Jake, which was hard when competing with his long legs.
"Pffft... You have all day. I'm just here to buy things and get back to my game. Apparently, there's some cool VR feature that the creator released right before launch." Jake didn't even look at her as he started examining the booths around them. There were booths that sold handmade soaps in the shape of famous anime characters. There were weapon replica booths that Suzy noted for later. And much, much more. Suzy could feel her bank account crying.
"That game again? Can't you just dedicate a day to spend with your friends?" Suzy grabbed Jake's arm to try and grab his attention. Which worked. When his eyes fell on her, she pouted very dramatically. "I thought I mattered more to you than that."
Jake looked like he was beginning to blush, but shook her off his arm before she could see it. "Stop that. You know my me time comes first." He brushed her off before looking at the nearest booth, which was an artist's booth that had some of the cleanest lines Suzy had ever seen.
Gavin stood behind Suzy while eyeing an old memorabilia booth farther down the way. He was no doubtedly waiting for his friends to continue rather than rush off.
Suddenly, the intercom sounded across the building. "Ladies and gentleman, the panel for Dragon Star X's voice actors has been cancelled due to many not showing up for today for personal reasons. We apologize ahead of time and instead will be replacing their time with a cosplay crafting tutorial panel."
Suzy already knew how to make some crafts and there were always videos on UserTube, but... Nothing was like seeing some of the more professionals actually explain some of their work.
But... would she make the guys go watch that with her or continue shopping with them?
Continue shopping or go watch the panel?
