Stick to the plan

It's business as usual so to speak as you head back to your apartment to live out your new life as Gabrielle. You have classes later today but you just feel melancholic for some reason. Maybe it's your Gabby memories and personality that's making you feel this way. The strange juxtaposition of your memories with hers has given you these mixed feelings, it's almost like she's telling you how upset she is at having her life stolen away. At the same time, you know that she would understand your situation, that she was just in the wrong place at the wrong time and that she'd have probably done the same thing in your situation.

You lounge around on the couch playing with the pens absentmindedly. The black, brown, blue and white pen have all been used at least once so you know what they can do. Strangely though, it's only now that you notice something different about the white pen. Instead of the standard button, the button is actually on a rail. It snaps into the second position with a satisfying click and you press again. A red dot appears on the wall. You're slightly confused. Why would an organisation who has the power to create these mighty devices make one of them a dual purpose laser pointer? It just doesn't seem logical.

Taking aim again, you press the button while pointed at your delicate hand. You watch in surprise as a hole appears in your skin, revealing what looks like your skin underneath. Just as quickly, you see that hole seal itself forming Gabby's flawless skin once again. This development definitely merits another go. Instead of a hole, this time you swipe the laser across your wrist. Again there's no pain but you see a large gash appear on your skin. Before the 'wound' (for the lack of a better word) can seal itself, you seize it with your other hand and pull on your finger tips. Somewhat to your surprise, the entire hand lifts off like a glove and underneath your own hand is revealed. Gabby's hand dangles from a sliver of flesh underneath your male hand. After you don the hand-glove again, your female skin seals itself and restores your body to perfection.

You understand now. As a recruiter, Elena would've had to have had back up in case her potential recruits got too greedy. After all, these bodysuit devices are powerful things, there's no way an organisation as prepared as this wouldn't have a failsafe for traitors or defectors. A white pen to modify memories as well as strip people from their skins. It's the perfect device for a hunter, one who sniffs out bodysuit jumpers like yourself. You hypothesize that Elena would've stripped you out of your Lucy skin if you had simply given up and then wiped your memories of that day.

This new found power gives you ideas. It is now entirely possible to save some of the loved ones you've left behind. Even if you don't know which of them have been replaced, you can just try out this white pen and if necessary, pull one of the imposters from their bodies. There's only so much you can do alone though. It's highly likely that all of them have been replaced and that the organisation is just waiting for you to try something. You need an edge. As you stare at the last remaining pen, you hope that it will provide what you need.
