Stepmother Gloria

Brandi's stepmother Gloria opened the door. Gloria was dressed like a sex librarian. Tight knee-length skirt, white blouse, dark hair pulled back into a bun, glasses, but bright red lipstick. "Well, well, well, the prodigal stepdaughter returns. Come in."

Brandi said nothing as she brushed by Gloria. She walked in, went into the living room and plopped down on the couch. She crossed her arms and stared at the wall.

Gloria closed the door and walked into the living room. She stood in front of Brandi. "So, the judge told me all about it. Either you work for me for one year or you get sent to county. You've never been to county, have you?"

"No," said Brandi glumly.

"No, ma'am," said Gloria.

Brandi glared at Gloria.

"Say it," said Gloria.

"No....ma'am."

"Better." Gloria sighed. "I know you think you're tough, but you tend to pick on girly types, don't you. The fights you got into at school were always against the cheerleaders or such. You've been in city jail, but never county. Let me tell you, missy, I've done work at county. Those women would eat you for breakfast and crap you out for lunch. A petite thing like you would be squashed like a bug."

Brandi did not want to admit her stepmom was right, but she knew she was. A shiver went through her.

"Anyway," said Gloria, "Judge Stevens told you you'd be working for me at the salon, but I'm going to give you a choice. You can either work for me here as my live-in maid or work at the salon as a custodian."

Brandi looked at Gloria like the older woman was crazy. "Maid?" she asked with disbelief.

"Yes, cleaning, waiting on my guest at parties and lunches, that type of stuff. If you work at the salon, you'd be doing the same, cleaning, bringing people towels in the spa, serving tea to women in the salon, and stuff. Your choice. What shall it be? Maid, Custodian/serving girl, or county?"
