Steel Spear

One of the first weapons made by man, a sharp rock on a stick. OK, this is a little bit better than a stone on a piece of wood. This is a six foot medal rod with a foot long spear point at the end. Great for stabbing someone from a distance and you can even throw this a good couple of feet if you want to get even more reach on you and you don't mind losing your weapon for a moment. Really good against anyone who is charging towards you on horseback or can't reach you with a sword. Can also double up as a walking stick as well or as a poking stick to poke any traps or unstable ground you find along the way. Always better to watch where you step and avoid implements of **** that are built to kill you.

On the downside, you better hope that nobody gets close to you. Technically, you can guard your body by crossing the staff across your body and push a person away from you to create distance, but if someone gets too close by avoiding your thrust, your kind in deep shit after that. Doubly so if they grab your spear and you can't free it from their grasps. As mentioned before, throwing the spear can also lead you open up to attacks. Finally, using a spear in enclosed spaces can be a pain in the ass, so using something else later on when you go tomb exploring might be a good idea. Don't worry, you'll have more options later on.
