Chapter 7 by Storm Chyld Storm Chyld

Time to make a decision.

Steal their ship.

It suddenly occurred to her, that she didn't have to catch a ride with them, if she stole their ship. Flipping over to her stomach, the blonde took a quick glance at the soldiers, as two of them walked back to the drop ship, while the others fanned out, taking another look around. Alexa had been worried for a moment, until she realized they needed the explosives to blow the shuttle she was laying on top of.

The lithe blond waited till the two soldiers came stomping back with a small, but heavy crate, and entered the shuttle. As soon as they cleared the door, she sprung to her feet, and leapt off the shuttle. She sprung through the air, gracefully, getting much further then she had anticipated. Hitting the ground lightly, she dashed toward the ship.

Unfortunately one of the soldiers spotted her, and opened fire. Bending over, as she ran as fast as she could, she dove into the ship, as their futuristic guns, made frightening noises, the bullets ripping into the hardened metal ship. Slapping her hand over a small console near the door, the small tendrils slipped from her hand, and interfaced with the electronic panel. With a quick flip, she shut the door, as the soldiers continued to pelt it with their weapons. Dashing toward the cockpit, she found it empty much to her relief. She didn't know how to fly, and this looked like it was flown in a more terrestrial way, then the alien shuttle she had been on.

Steeling herself, the young engineer, put her hands on the yoke, and once again let the tendrils interface with the advanced technology. Almost innately, she seem to figure out the controls, and began flipping the appropriate buttons. Her tendrils would receded, and extend as needed, as she got the craft to lift into the air. Ignoring the scary soldiers, she was leaving behind, she lifted up to three hundred feet, and guided her ship toward downtown Seattle, where she hoped to find help.

As she flew across the desert, she saw the urban sprawl north of what was Puyallup had become a desolate sprawl. In fact the entire Metroplex south of Seattle seem to be deserted. Seattle itself, looked different, even from afar. The city had grow upward, reaching further into the sky, with tall scrapers, and wide, expanding out to the east where once forest had reigned. Lexi frowned, wondering what was going on.

Suddenly long range anti-aircraft weapons began shooting at her ship, and before she could begin evasive maneuvers, her ship was hit across the starboard side. The cockpit began to flash red, as her tendrils fed her information on critical failures through out the drop ship. The weapons were firing from Seattle's southern edge, and she was **** to veer left, toward Tacoma.

The ship began to shake, as enemy flak continued to strafe the air around her. Tacoma looked dark, foreboding and abandoned, which was good in a sense, since she was about to crash into it's streets. As her ship came down hard, she tried to pull up on the yoke, to hit at an angle, that would lessen the impact. The ship smashed into a city street, and slid nearly a hundred feet, before coming to a rest. As the ship struck the ground, Lexi was thrown into the dash, and blacked out for a moment.
