Stays in the cave

As night fell, Katniss moved deeper into the cave and laid down on the smoothest bit of rock she could find.

She refused to give President Snow what he wanted and he would have to stop the rain and let the Games resume soon, or the TV audiences would get angry.

Katniss curled into a tight ball and sobbed; her stomach was in agony, completely empty and being squashed by her ever-expanding bladder.

Hugging herself, the naked, barefoot, hungry, freezing Girl on Fire crossed her long, slender legs, squeezed them together as tight as she could and eventually drifted into an uneasy, restless sleep...

Katniss was awoken the next morning by the sound of birds. The rain had stopped, the storm had broken.

Was she back in District 12?

"M-mom..." she mumbled, rolling over. It was only when she felt hard rock pressing into her that she remembered where she was.

Katniss shot up into a sitting position, hugging her knees to her chest and shivered. It took a few moments more for her to realise that something else was different.

"No!"

Katniss looked down at her naked body and burst into tears.

Horrifyingly, humiliatingly, she had wet herself in her sleep. She hadn't done that since she was a little girl! Her smooth legs were sticky and disgusting and there was a dark, damp patch of rock all around her.

Standing up and wiping away the tears, Katniss hobbled to the cave entrance, her whole body weak with hunger. She saw the bottles she had left just outside were full of clean rain water; the naked girl gratefully parched herself. To her horror, she saw that something else had been left outside the cave; a diaper!

There was a note attached to it:

Miss Everdeen,

It looks like you might need this as you seem to be unable to control yourself.

President Coriolanus Snow

Katniss picked the diaper up in disgust and threw it away, angrily. Did Snow really expect her to wear that?!

After checking that her pack and bow had both dried out, she slung them onto her shoulder and headed back out into the jungle, one arm cradling her breasts, a pink tinge in her cheeks.
