Status Report

Soon, there was a new status report from the moved node, which you eagerly examined. As you read it, your heart sank. The node status listed an array of errors, including an ominous one that said Checkpoint Files Corrupted. This might be the only reachable node that hadn't reset, and the files that were needed to save 6T9 were apparently damaged, possibly beyond recovery. "All that work for nothing," you mumbled.

Before you could signal MPAD-24 to break the connection, a new message arrived from the node, one that was significantly shorter than the status report, and it was initiated from the node instead of being a response. The message was clear. "This is 6T9. There's been an accident in waste processing. Can anyone hear me?"

At least part of her consciousness must trapped in that node. Even if her checkpoint files are damaged, maybe there would still be a way to get the data you needed from her directly. However, doing that was going to require taking this interface to the next level. "MPAD-24, prepare for full VR mode." Then you set to work mapping the constructs into recognizable objects. You'd already prepped MPAD-24 for most of this, and after several minutes, you'd configured the rest of the necessary parameters. Anything else unaccounted for would need to be handled on the fly. It was time to finally test it out.
